Lardy, DDP Yoga is also a proven method you may want to explore. My best and final advice to you is to find a structured and PROVEN program that was designed by people who aren’t guessing.

I've been trying to read some stuff in here but the links don't seem to work. I did get to one page but don't remember which one it was. From what I seen does he recommend protein, low carbs, and low fat? Do You do this diet and how do you feel on it?

As a matter of fact I’m doing it right now and have slimmed down from about 304 to the lower 290’s in just a few weeks. My problem with my weight is I need to give up the weight lifting itself and concentrate more on cals and high rep work with my kettlebells, clubs and maces. When I lift like I inevitably and usually do it makes me ravenous afterwards and I just eat way too much in general. My ‘problem’ is also that I really don’t look ‘fat’, but at 57 it’s time to slim down, so I’ll keep you posted.

Hey guys, I'm not sure how I found this forum but I saved it at some point and after having another look around, I remember why I saved it. I really need to start exercising and all the fitness websites seem to be geared towards 100% bodybuilding, even the fitness sub-reddit doesn't cover actual fitness, mainly bodybuilding and I honestly feel like this forum and the ideas here are a gem and unique, which I love. Anyway, my name is Jason and I'm from the UK, 26 years old 5 ft 9 and 225 lbs, I have never worked out in my life, like ever, I have the strength of a 4 year old girl, the cardio of a 60 a day smoker (I gave up smoking 5 years ago after about 8 years of smoking, good ol' teenage years -_-) and the flexibility of a thick board. I'd really like to overhaul my health and strength, and I literally have no idea how to do it without becoming overwhelmed, can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks for having me, I look forward to speaking with you guys!!
Hello Lardy and hello friends. Sorry I have not posted for a while. This is a really good 41 page bodyweight training PDF. Enjoy. What others have said about diet is critical. You cannot out exercise a bad diet.

Not trying to make it more complicated, but a definition of what we are each thinking of as "carbs" might be helpful. Choosing cellular carbs is not going to make anyone fat. Try getting fat on celery, broccoli, asparagus, squash, cauliflower and sauerkraut with fresh chives and garlic. Add some mashed potatoes and you can feel very full while losing fat. I was thinking the traditional carbs that any doctor or pro trainer will tell a person to reduce, and that being bread, pasta, rice, etc I suspected. I'm not sure that Michael understood that. I have some of Clarences books and read on his site about his diet and, if I remember it right, he eats the cellular carbs, like I noted. The bottom line (!!!! Ha!) is that reducing NET calories below body requirements will burn up fat. How that is accomplished can be made as complicated or as simple as a person wishes, but for sure, the application must be consistent to condition the body to adapt a slimmer profile of what it thinks homeostasis is.

So You do High or moderate protein, low carbs, and low fat? Why didn't you stay doing it? Does it not feel sustainable for the long term? That was one of my points, doing something that you could sustain. I could not do low carbs and low fat, I will will be wishing You the best of luck and will be glad to see You lose the weight You want to lose.

I understand and appreciate what you guys are saying. I have like 5 of Clarence Bass's books. I have only read the nutrition sections of each. His first book was primary vegetarian. Not to get into the specifics, he did eat stuff like steel oats, sprouted wheat bread, brown rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes in most of his books. In his earlier books it was a low fat diet. His later books he turn to a Mediterranean diet.

I didn’t stick with not eating basically whatever I wanted because I enjoyed walking around being muscular and ‘Big’ I’m not going to lie. At about 5’ 11” and 300 pounds with a large bone structure my pants size was still ‘only’ about a 42, so I really don’t look fat. It’s too much weight on the heart etc. though, so this time I’m serious about keeping the weight off. I began walking extra every day, cutting out all processed food and minimizing carbs. Also drinking more water and eating a bit less overall. Works every time 😎

God bless You for looking muscular at 5'11" at that weight and at 57 years old. In 2008 at 225lbs I felt lazy, I could not handle that weight doing the work I do. I looked fat in 2008. I'm hoping You get Your weight down for Your overall health.
