Let's hope the Biden outreach include making the 2021 IRA RMD optional . After all Trump made the 2020 IRA RMD optional .

The comments down the page of the link show just how wide the divisions are in America. The names they call each other are juvenile.

White Conservatives are always so problematic for these folks, always whining about the Constitution and Liberty. Not to worry, they ARE going after their guns, and they'll soon need to show their vax papers to buy groceries.

Unfortunately, it's now the 'Murican way.....that is, if you don't agree then you are against and enemies are made. There is no your opinion/my opinion and still be friends. Even if Trump officially won, there would still have been fanatical rally/riots.....de-evolution is going on all over and a major push is all the stress folks are going through with COVID and all of Bidens numerous reform bills.....

White Conservatives are always so problematic for these folks, always whining about the Constitution and Liberty. Not to worry, they ARE going after their guns, and they'll soon need to show their vax papers to buy groceries. "They" will never get all the guns, or even a small proportion of them. A cursory glance at US figures show around 390 million guns in civilian possession, most of them unregistered. Try gathering all those up, even apart from individual state laws that differ regarding firearm types, etc, something I found in Little America (Australia) with one state allowing unregistered sale of guns up to and including .22 calibre to those 16 years and over, another state allowing anything that was not "military calibre" and yet another state that had no restrictions at all, tommy guns being sold over the counter. The 'restriction' to those was the availability (and price) of the required ammo for the Thompson. I guess things have tightened up a bit since the late 60's but the same diversity would no doubt still apply, from state to state. Even much more variety in the US I would imagine. NZ had a lot of compliance after the mosque shootings re amnesty for illegal firearms and buy-back for those that had become freshly restricted, but then the parasite drug gangs that should have never been allowed to form up in the first place don't give a damn about the law anyway, and happily import or sideline guns, their headquarters bristling with firepower. And it's the farmers whose land and stock are being decimated by feral dogs and pigs that need semi-auto-capable guns that have the speed of fire to pick off the parent animal and the puppies/piglets before some of them are able disappear into the scrub. They are not going to just sit by and see their lively-hood ruined by laws that stop them having the necessary means to defend their farms, and sometimes themselves. Try stopping a charging boar that's just burst out of the bush 20 feet away from you with a bolt-action. You'll probably do it (or you shouldn't be there) but a semi-auto is much more reassuring to be holding in your mitts. And any country has those whose expertise extends to manufacturing their own weapons. Any attempts to curb that would be largely futile in the States. Compulsory vaccination (which has been discussed on Sierra) has already started in NZ, with frontline workers required to vaccinate or be "deployed". A security guard at one of the isolation hotels recently tested "positive". Again, it's the way the Covid has been treated that's the thing, not whether arguments for or against the reality of the tests or the virus itself have any validity. Even people like mikey, with their sincere research calling into question the Covid virus itself, and the reliability of the tests, plus Bruv's ongoing statistical analysis of how serious things really are, haven't stopped Authority everywhere from pursuing conventional measures designed to curb or minimize the effects of the "pandemic". I understand that social shaming via hate mail etc is alive and well here, proving that The People are the same anywhere in the world, with groups going to extremes for one reason or another.

Even if Trump officially won, there would still have been fanatical rally/riots.....de-evolution is going on all over and a major push is all the stress folks are going through with COVID and all of Bidens numerous reform bills..... Absolutely true. The Capitol riots were the final straw for many. The FBI site shows over 500 photos (some of them two or three of the same person) the vast majority who made no attempt whatsoever to cover their faces, and even encouraged photos of them to be taken. They believed that they were there to "save America", the victims of conspiracy theories via QAnon and other crackpottery and Trump's prompting, no question. Why hide their faces when they were only doing their "Patriotic" duty. These days, many of them are disillusioned with Trump (including the Horned Shaman) and are apologizing for their actions, most of which are probably simple trespass and not much more. But others like that molotov cocktail crackpot face jail and they should throw the key away, his vicious products of death the measure of his madness. Others are going to have to somehow explain why they thought it was a good idea to take cable ties to the action, obviously designed to kidnap under restraint, while others face charges of violent action of assaults and battery, including the death of a policeman. Many there are that report to authorities that "Trump sent them", further justifying the "57 for vs 43" against vote for Trump's conviction. Of course, the usual US convoluted "rules" kick in and along with the help of that weasel McConnell whose "advice" many Republicans followed, Trump was let off for another day in the sun playing golf. Meanwhile the true enemies of America remain in the background, largely anonymous, and carry on with business as usual, ruining the lifeblood of American economy with their greed for money and power. And The People, like they always do, fight among themselves with their bigoted attitudes that give no quarter to their "opponents". I saw it on Skeptoid for seven years, I see it on the MSM.

Of course, there always is. Meanwhile, Babbit was shot dead trying to break and enter by an officer sworn to protect those he was charged with, a serious breach of security which if she had got in, others would have followed. She had previously posted her intention to take the Capitol and was a QAnon believer. It goes to show how even a veteran with 12 years of service in the air force could be taken in by a combination of unproven crackpottery and Trumpism. I don't believe that was the police letting her in for one moment. Otherwise she wouldn't have been breaking to enter in the first place. Police that allowed persons to enter restricted space should be (and probably will be) either sacked or at least censured. The video above shows 13 seconds of non-action. Other footage of violent action is extensive and provides ample evidence including the faces of attackers beating up police. Some of said attackers have already been arrested as we speak and face a long list of charges. Here's the FBI page with ten videos so far. www.fbi.gov/wanted/capitol-violence More videos are being added as they come to light and certainly more photos and increasing numbers of rioters are being found by law enforcement and questioned and possibly charged. One may not call this a riot in strict terms, but it certainly is NOT peaceful, nor is it free from violence. What would have happened to Pelosi or Pence (to name two) can only be speculated on, had the mob got their hands on them. Many came with serious equipment for restraint and battery (at the very least). A police officer died when struck with a fire extinguisher. If the US doesn't present a strong face to the world regarding what in effect is a direct Trump-initiated attack on the Constitution and democracy, America will be seen globally for its reluctance to punish those who directly threaten its stability, and provide "evidence" for those countries where dictatorship is the norm, of the inherent weakness of democracy and law and order in what is up until now the most prominent mover and shaker in the "Free World". Trump should have been tried and sentenced to prison for his part in the Capitol violence, but convoluted rules saved him, for now. Any doubt in one's mind that he was not guilty of attempted coup or at least incitement to undermine the Constitution and electoral process should be swept aside by the clear numerical majority of those who voted for his conviction after all evidence was presented and examined. The vote wasn't close. There was a 14 member majority to convict. If that two-timing weasel McConnell hadn't voted against conviction and influenced other Republicans teetering on the brink to do the same, it wouldn't be long before Trump was inside looking out, for quite a while. Next thing, McConnell emerges from the vote to lambast Trump in the strongest terms. Who could ever trust that little twister ever again ?

Might help you out if you knew some people who were there.
