Weight plates with built-in handles have been available for over 20 years . They offer somewhat of a compromise to the versatility of a Birt Plate . I have Olympic and standard plates with handles and have used them for plate workouts. The special features that make these even more suitable for plate workouts is what has me interested. That interest may go away when I finally see a price.

MBS, pleasant swings with your new KB. Hamstrings DOMS is good feedback. Crack them walnuts at the top of your swings. Be safe.

Obviously a "soft" KB is less likely to injure when form may lapse doing endurance work(worthwhile insurance) . KB purists will object .

KB arrived early today. I absolutely love it! Magnus, yes it felt heavy when I first took it out of the box 🤣. Ive gotten in a couple hundred swings today, mostly in sets of 15, while watching college football today. I did one set of 20, and noticed my form slipped slightly. I’m focused mostly on good form, and the conditioning and intensity will build over time. My hamstrings are my weakest link, and I think swings are going to remedy this. The 53 pounder was a good choice. This tool has renewed my enthusiasm for training! Use it well !

Fraidy cats like me will stick with "soft workout implements" like sandbags that have multiple handles ; a drop in a foot won't result in a fracture.

Fraidy cats like me will stick with "soft workout implements" like sandbags that have multiple handles ; a drop in a foot won't result in a fracture. As I heard one guy say something like this: Due to the instability, varying possibilities for grip, stone gripping surface and just general awkwardness of the weight, the threat of having a stone come down on your head or feet forces concentration on everything that you're doing, so it is actually helpful and keeps safety high. I play with my stones regularly, both outside and in. I only had one come down unexpectedly once when I was outside and that was when I first started using stones. I was lifting with one arm/hand and the stone fell off at near full extension overhead. Since I was paying attention, as soon as I could feel it was going, it was with calm ease that my other hand came up immediately and deflected the stone to fall a few feet from me. It also removed the fear of the stone falling onto me from overhead. That has never happened since, maybe partly due to becoming familiar with the stones I use regularly. I do like some amount of unsteadiness or shaking when I lift them and the extra stabilizing that requires from my muscles.

MBS, you’re only limited by your imagination of KB training workouts in your KB training journey. If you come up short, there’s no shortage of ideas on YouTube.
Always scale those workout ideas to your current abilities. If you’re inclined, make those abilities work hard and you will be rewarded. Be safe.

Sounds like You have a good plan MBS. Just listen to Your body and do You. Pavel I believe in his book"Simple & Sinister" mentioned after 10 reps form can break down. His style in Hard style which is a hard hip snap. I would just say as long as You squeeze the gluteus to protect the back You should be ok. Dan John has had people doing swing work outs that have over 20 reps for years without problems. With my back history I did an Every Minute On The Minute session for 16 minutes adding 1 rep each set. I started at 10 and ended at 26 reps. Start slow, watch your form, and have fun with it.
