Until last evening, I had not worked out in 7 weeks - yikes!
With my impending retirement (10 days to go and counting), it's been a very busy 7 weeks. My wife and I sold two home, bought two homes in Arizona, moved our household goods and I've been winding down my business including closing my office. I'm "homeless" in Sacramento but fortunate enough to be staying at my brother's home about 25 minutes from my office. My wife is in Arizona at our new home.
It's been very busy and for whatever reason, I've not been able to work out. I know that something is better than nothing and that it doesn't take much time to bang out a set of pull-ups or bar dips, or do a quick 5-minute kettlebell workout but the flurry of what I've been doing just drained me and I lacked workout motivation.
Then, I started to wonder if I was going to suck air once I jumped back on the saddle.
Last evening, I decided to go for a run. I ran 3 miles and it took me 32:00 exactly. The last time I had run was on 8/2/2020. I ran the same distance in 31:10. My HR stats were comparable and my heart rate recovery last evening was good. I was surprised, thinking it was going to be a more unpleasant experience. Today, my legs are slightly sore. I may go for a run later this afternoon.
Next up is a test is to do a single set of pull-ups and bar dips to evaluate my fitness erosion. I was at single set max reps of 15 reps for pull-ups and 35 reps for bar dips about two months ago. It'll be interesting to see what I do when I test myself, maybe tomorrow. I know my counts will be lower.
Now kettlebell work and burpees are different animals. I expect the greatest fitness erosion with these.
But, I'll be back and will soon have lots of time to play with my workouts in my new training environment, my new home on 1.6 acres in the country. Looking forward to it.
In other news, my weight remains stable within my target range of 170-175 lbs. This morning was 171.4 lbs. The discipline remains unchanged.
End of executive briefing: as you were.
