Well I don't see what's appropriate about referring to the Corona virus thread on here, which I thought was supposed to be about Ric Drasin, his life and passing. ....... If you review the thread you may notice that the discussion had changed a few times before I mentioned it. I don't see anything inappropriate about it. I liked Ric and had no disrespectful intent toward him in my post. I actually expected moxohol to post his summary of the Coronavirus thread in the Coronavirus thread, to end it, but it didn't go that way. It's OK.

Dave Draper's forum is a favorite of mine, and the fact I have sent six mails during the last eight years and received replies to all elevates his status in my eyes.

Drasin did a tribute to Dave Draper not all that long ago and I thought he knew something was wrong with Dave's health and he wanted to do a tribute to Dave so he could see it before anything happened. I like Draper's column also.

I just thought that with the apparent tiring of the Covid 19 subject, it should perhaps be confined to the actual Covid thread itself, especially with others here backing up your call to end it. Then we can pick and choose what we want to read, or possibly respond to, or not. And avoid what we don't want to bother with. Bruce has generously allowed us to post on pretty much anything we want to say, and there are subjects that some of us are simply not interested in. That's okay, we can avoid them, providing the title matches the thread content, without having to delve into the thread.

I want to hear macky's solutions to all the cyber attack that I hear are happening in NZ and all the great failures of his PM to counter that. From the little I know about the situation, it seems the stock exchange is/was under cyber-attack from some international source. I would imagine the NZ SIS and other agencies from the US etc are also involved because of the serious nature of the potential disruption to an important part of the economy. The attacks have wide implications in my opinion. If "they" can disrupt a small country's stock exchange successfully, then larger economies would automatically be at risk as well, the UK and US included. Obviously I have no solution to the problem because I don't know anything about how to go about combating what is obviously a sophisticated operation. Why the PM should be seen to fail greatly is beyond logic. I'm sure she issued orders for the appropriate people to get to the bottom of the problem ASAP. I would also speculate that the public may never know who or what is behind the attacks, from a security angle. So be it. Re my PM, like all leaders of countries, they make mistakes sometimes, errors of judgements, blunders even. But our PM took prompt and resolute action against the Covid 19 emergency, and the results speak for themselves. She was there on the ground at the terrorist massacre in Christchurch, and took prompt action to at least reduce the number and nature of firearms in NZ. There was some international praise for that. Not like Trump who downplayed the whole Covid thing and look where the US is today. He failed his country massively, thought more of the stock market than peoples' lives and deaths, fucked around until it was too late, just like Bolsonaro in Brazil. I've already summarized Trump and his behaviour in other threads. A great leader is one who rises to emergencies in times of crisis and who unifies everybody and their inherent divisions no matter what they are, to fight a common enemy. Trump didn't do this, and he has unashamedly exploited the deep divisions in American society for his own ends.

I was keeping the continuity within the thread. It never occurred to me to write the subject elsewhere.

I don't get into political stuff just like some don't get into religion. I don't watch or read news. I just work and live my life. You can talk about whatever You want. I could care less about the virus thread, it will keep going back and forth. I like joking around sometimes so I didn't think someone was going to get upset about Chuck Norris. Sometimes You have to lighten up and not worry Yourself to death. Everything doesn't have to be doom and gloom.

But I think it's appropriate to discuss the virus from time to time as a matter that one way or another affects (or will affect) us all whether we become infected or not. Mikey appeared to promote the shutting down of the subject (I might have got the wrong impression) and the subsequent support prompted me to suggest that any discussion of Covid 19 be confined to that particular thread so that those that don't want to bother with it can avoid suddenly having it brought up on a thread which basically deals with something else. It's not a big deal, only a suggestion.

PUBLIC DISCLAIMER: OK, this didn't work out well. My original intent was to make a joke about moxohol attempting to 'summarize" this thread, thus ending the discussion on this thread. Not trying to make fun of moxie or discourage him from posting, BTW. He has shared some interesting info about his own experience, even if some of it is too technical for me to understand. I knew we would all continue to post in this thread, as well as continue to post in the CV thread. I think we all know there is no end to any thread as long as anyone wants to make a new post in one, no matter how old and that all threads are fair game for anything except porno, as I understand Bruce's rules. I really am tired of the CV thread though, so that's true and I really don't have anything more to post on that one at the moment ........ Oh, wait, maybe I'll post a summary? I seem to be in a slump right now and feel like a dullard for bombing so badly here. I'll try to be funnier in the future, m8s!

I thought it was funny. I admit I'm not into the virus thing but everyone is entitled to their opinion. If I'm not interested in a thread or have anything to add, I may read it but not post. I delt with the Bag Lady for too long and doom and gloom reminds me too much of him. That's just my opinion.

All good. It's not all doom and gloom re the virus. For me, it's been a marvelous opportunity to indulge in more of what I like doing, even under lockdown. And the weather was kind enough to bring some lovely blue-sky days.
And....without all the traffic and industry fumes wafting across the harbour and landscape, the air was as fresh as the country.
Most notably, the virus has provided more opportunities for people to help others where the need arises. Good people are delivering groceries at doorstep to the elderly and most vulnerable, others are involved with traffic direction around the testing stations, still others ready on the phone to try and help the depressed and jobless.
In so many ways, even though distancing and isolation rules have applied on various levels, Covid 19 around here at least, has brought people closer in spirit. More smiles, more friendly waves to those we don't know by name, and the dropping off of food and money to the homeless by those that would have otherwise been at work.
