1st thing: Hey silverlooks, I've send you a private message, on your forum profile, please check your received message!
...
How many here are using TSC training? With which results?
..
Im using them since some months, with dynamic bw exercises (drew baye's book).
But Im a bit skeptical about Tsc in terms of hypertrophy growth..
Thanks
John

I've been doing isometrics for about 15 years and the main thing I use them for is for building explosive power and strength for self protection reasons as I live in a shitty area and seem to always be getting into shit like last week when I had a gun pulled on me but yeah anyway back to your point, I have never personally seen any muscle building results come from doing isometrics just by themselves and I have tried all different holding times. I would also like to get other peoples take on their results from doing isometrics! I love the mental benefits I get from isometrics also as they seem to really relax me , reduce stress and tension and as i already said they make my punches, kicks and movement much more explosive. A book I have based my workouts on for many years is Charles Bronson's Solitary fitness, check it out !

Baz I personally lost size whenever I did Isometrics by themselves. Losing size would probably be why I also lost weight. But everyone is different. If I use isometrics I prefer to do some kind of movement exercise in conjunction. I also seem to lose the ability to lift external weight which I need to do for my job.

The effectiveness of dynamic training improves when combined with preliminary static tension by up to 20%. When this training is being used, one must perform the dynamic aspect immediately following the static. Frequency, Duration, and Rest..."

NASA came out with a study in 2013 with isometrics. Although, isometrics did arrest muscle & bone degradation which happens famously in space, it does not produce contractile proteins well as does dynamic exercise...blah, blah, blah.

Michael, 100% mate I also seem to lose muscle when ever I have done a strictly isometrics routine which is why i pair it with push ups, squats and pull ups but to be honest I really have not been doing much isometrics or self resistance this past year , I've been following a push, pull, legs split using progressive calisthenics and I'm loving it !

Moxohol mate to be honest I've suffered with mental issues my whole life (Anxiety, depression) and even agoraphobic from 17 up to 21 years old , I use to be involved in gangs and drugs in my early 20s and made quite a few enemy's along the way who I still see around from time to time plus my brother is a loose cannon and always in some kind of shit which I always get dragged into which was the reason behind the gun issue I mentioned. But I'm doing my best to live a happy , healthy life with my wife and kids these days , have a good job working in traffic management but unfortunately i live in a place where my past still haunts me .

After doing my personal experiments with isometrics by themselves I would never again limit my self to just them. For me, it gets to boring and my body seems to get achy. Combining them with calisthenics, weights, bands, KBs, etc... is a good way to go. I would say the same as Bruce said one time,"Why limit Yourself to one kind of training".

Door supervisor was my 1st guess not the latter. That explains your magnificent body armor. I've never understood the council estate politics that exists in the UK. I guess I ought to count my blessings & be content with my shit hole corner of the world. The worst I have to do is eyeball the laborers working about the property. One never knows if someone is pumped up with religious zealotry & bucking for points. If your brother has impulse control issues and/or addictions, N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) is cheap & effective. It has a normalizing effect. I do believe the NHS offers CES Therapy which causes positive & permanent personality changes. I am familiar with both treatments as I suffer from TBI. If he is simply running amok with jerk offs, my deepest condolences.

I noticed some growth in my shoulders from isometrics years ago, I think all I was doing at the time was isometrics and maybe shadowboxing. I used to go on an isometric phase for about a month once a year but then I moved to the countryside and it was just more fun to go and play outside, don't recall any muscle growth after the first year. Now I've moved again I am reconsidering it, and sometimes throw in a few isometric exercises with a rubber ring dog toy during my lunch break.
