His brother lived longer than him and without the fitness lifestyle so maybe there were strong genetics at play contributing to his long life. Yeah, I really believe genetics play a large part in someone’s longevity. It’d be interesting to know what his brother’s quality of life was like, especially the last 10 or so years.

My Uncle told me when I was a kid to break off someone's antenna and whoop them with it if I had to. I wonder if Uncle Wallet came up with this first? When I was a kid, I broke the antenna off the car. When dad asked me why I told him how my brother and I were having a sword fight and I needed a sword. Dad laughed so hard he couldn’t even whoop me. . We were told to do that because he said fighting wasn't fair so take every advantage You can.

Thanks for sharing Michael. I remember watching the Jack LaLanne show on our black and white television as a kid and even following along with the exercises. Remember his white dog named Happy and how he would sing “Happily we exercise . . . “ closing song at the end of the show. My Dad met him at Ed Yarick’s Gym in Oakland in the early 1859’s. That gym was the place to be in the early 1950’s if you were into weightlifting and muscle and fitness. I also remember the news when he was arrested for the DUI. A great man with a strong character and full of life. His brother lived longer than him and without the fitness lifestyle so maybe there were strong genetics at play contributing to his long life. Maybe the parts wore out sooner due to heavy use for Jack. Jack had to get an aortic valve replacement at age 95 & died a year later. George Burns lived to be 100 chomping on his cigar until he fell & broke his hip. He was mobile & alert til that time. Died soon after that. I think there's more merit in fasting than working out. Training is an added benefit.
