Sometimes I re-read articles or the books I have from Clarence Bass. It reminds me of how I lost weight and he is well researched. Some things I re-read today in one of his books most here have disagreed with many times. But my weight loss and maintaining it has been mostly because of what I learn from him. So I thought maybe someone would like these articles. www.cbass.com/fatloss_weightcontrol.htm

Michael, I do know this from talking to competitive natural bodybuilder types when I used to belong to a gym and from discussions when I wasted time at the My Fitness Pal community discussion forum until I was banned - low-intensity steady state cardio for longer duration seems to be what these types do more of when chiseling for competition, not the high-intensity shorter duration stuff that you and I like to do.
From my own experiences, I believe that both is a winning combination but at the end of the day, high-precision and long duration consistent calorie deficits is how the job is done. People who are fairly lean but want a little more will get there with very small average daily calorie deficits, perhaps as low as 150 calories a day which in the course of a year translates to about 15 lbs. of weight loss. If there is an accompanying heavier weight progressive resistance being done at the same time, a person couldn't help from getting increasingly body fat leaner with higher muscle mass.
Problem is that it takes consistency and hard work and some of us - me included - aren't willing to do the hard work; we're satisfied with what we got, or we want to eat our cake and have it too.
