Gym owner Mike Cola is one YouTube channel I subscribe to. I find his presentations useful and he doesn't come across like a NY jerk like some people I know. His latest video is an interesting one.

Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to check out more of his videos. I like this one. Through experimenting with diet I have found what he says here to be true for me. I have been higher carbs over the years but my body seems to do better when I go low carb and higher fat. Ric Drasin has a video saying the same.

simple carbs just make me hungry, I do better with high fat and moderate protein snacks.

Year ago when I wrote my first book, The Pierini DIET, I emphasized thoroughly chewing food and making it a milkshake consistency before sending it down the food pipe. Eating this way, as contrasted to wolfing it down, makes a big difference in being satisfied because it allows the gut to brain signal to kick in and say that it's had enough. The best example I can give to prove this is true is eating potato chips. Try it with a lunchbox bag size. If you're hungry, you can easily destroy that bag in probably 2 minutes easy. If you, instead, eat one chip at a time and thoroughly masticate it, chances are you'll conclude that you've had enough maybe before eating the whole bag. I think this phenomenon is similar to what Mike Cola talks about in his video.
Now, back in the olden days when we all hit the night clubs on the hunt, did a 30 second sniff make a difference to one that lasted a couple minutes. Waiting for sharing from the old turds here and you know who you are!

My diet theory. Or which diet is right for you theory. We see lots of eat the diet of these people or those people, they live to be 100. Let's back up before travel of great distances was feasible. Say, from the beginning of time to until 150 years ago People at the foods that were local to where they lived depending on their genetic suitability so said diet they thrived or died early. If they died early they didn't pass their genes on as the same rate as the thrivers. Since then, we've all likely shuffeled around the planet gene wise. Our EXPRESSED genes may thrive under high fat, low fat, high carb, low carb, high protein, low carb, etc. The only true way for use to know unless we are indigenous and doing well on the foods we are currently eating is to experiment and see what works for us. Fuck the doctors and books that say this or that.

Buteyko breathing changes metabolism and reduces food consumption. Using this technique, I lost almost 20 lbs for few months without changing my diet and self-resistance training protocol.

Bob, are you willing to provide more specific details about your experience so those of us here happening to be skeptical may be enlightened? When you say "almost 20 lbs." and "few months", would you be more specific such as I lost 19 lbs. in five months. Honestly, after having done the hard work to lose the weight I did, I find it hard to believe that through a different type of breathing that one can lose that amount of weight with the amount of food eaten and exercise remaining relatively unchanged. Thanks in advance if you decide to share more.

Hi Pierini, I started Buteyko training in February 2019 (see my log) for other reasons. The loss of weight is a side effect of this breathing technique. In January, my weight was 220 lbs. Today my weight 201 lbs. i practice breathing 3 or 4 times/day for 20-40 min and try to keep shallow breathing during all day if it is possible. You can find a lot of detailed info on this breathing in internet. P.S. I did not change my diet, but I am eating less now because I just do not want more ( no food craving).

Thanks for the additional information Bob. So there was an element of eating less contributing to your weight loss; congratulations. I'd say most of your weight loss was due to eating less based on the breathing technique you describe but since I've never tried it, what I said is just my strong hunch. Whatever gets the job done gets the job done so keep marching forward.
