I'm going to cancel my free membership to 24 Hour Fitness that I got once becoming a Medicare Man earlier this year. After going there a couple times and being overwhelmed by the density and effort required to go there, I don't need it at this point in my middle-age man life. The parks I go to and the spare room in my office that's turned into a simple fitness center totally meet my fitness training needs. If it ain't broke, no need to fix it and the 24 Hour Fitness fix is something I just don't need.

The 24-Hour Fitness here in Tacoma, Wa is very nice, and I have a membership. The staff and members treat me well as a senior citizen. But I get the majority of my exercise in my hallway, my dining room, and the park, and I really love the hook and Bruce's looped belt. I even sometimes do some of the Atlas exercises and my own modified tiger moves, and some stuff from Bolton's book.
The gym is great for some, but not at all necessary for many others, as you so well illustrate by example.

I am questioning whether I am going to return to my gym(s) once they re-open. The owner of one sent an email to all members that was basically a plea not to terminate their memberships as several had already done. I have kettlebells from 10 to 75 pounds that I have been using since early March, and I resumed my pushup/pull up routine I had largely abandoned several years ago...throw in hill runs and sprints, and I am extremely satisfied with the results I am seeing thus far...

I will happily continue working in my basement and going to the local football field or an always empty rural park.
