I've found that being sheltered indoors most of the time lends itself to eating all day everyday. I watched "The Martian" this weekend where he lives on a potato and other minimal items trying to stretch his rations. It's easy to restrict eating when your life depends on it (I'm imagining), but when you have "immediate" access, not so much. Add to that the stress, anxiety, and depression, America will come out of this fatter than ever.

I noticed I was feeling a bit tight in the britches. Yeah, I agree. It will be difficult for some. I'm paring down portions even more and eating more fruits and veggies, canned or frozen, drinking water. Beans every day. I'm all out of truck patch potatoes and I refuse to eat the chemically toxic ones from the store or commercial "organic", otherwise, I would be eating mostly beans and potatoes. I already don't eat or drink any of the toxic glutens, so I don't have that addiction. No bread, pasta, cookies, cereal, donuts, pizza, beer, etc and no factory condiments, sauces or dressings. No refined sugar - except for wine, but I don't know anything about the sugar in the wine I drink nor how that figures into it. I do eat Tinkyada brand brown rice pasta and I think it is even tastier than the Barilla I used to eat many years ago. Looking for things to do. Not hard to find. Till the ground. Clean up the place. Organize. Crafty work. Visit with my family. Etc. Plus the exercise breaks. Oh, and watching movies, listening to music. Usually eat dry popcorn, no salt, while watching a movie.

I was thinking that some in the media were probably already planning their articles for when this thing is winding down. I figured at least two of the articles would be about skin care for hands suffering from being washed so much and another about losing the "Coronavirus Isolation 15" similar to the freshman 15.

Honestly now, while this may be good time for some to experiment temporarily with max efforts because they might not have to work also, for most it may be a good time to see how little you have to do and eat to feel good. Too bad it's somewhat counterintuitive to how the human body naturally has reacted to the season of Spring for thousands of years.

I judge my current eating behavior as highly disciplined and guided by a mindset that food is nutritional fuel and not something to be gobbled down out of habit, because I happen to walk past the refrigerator or because I'm bored or stressed. It took me a while to solidify this behavior and mindset. Having said this, however, I do find it more challenging when being home, particularly the 8 days I was stuck at home trying to please my wife because of this Coronavirus scare. Yesterday, for example, I was off, and ate much sooner in the day than I normally would if in the rat race and working. Today I'm working so it'll be busy as usual. I didn't pack a lunch, don't plan on going out and will deal with being hungry if and when it becomes noticeable. I have a lot of work to do and find eating to be a distraction from getting a lot of work done. We'll see how my day goes.

My nearest shop is just over the road from me, so I have no problems accessing food.

Yeah I noticed the scale creeping up the other day. Had to cut out the in between meals snacking and watch portion size as well. 😁

The only meal I have in the day (and evening) that could be called "set" is dinner, which is often a few bits of chicken, and the rest vegetables. Breakfast doesn't exist with me as such. Some mornings I'll grab some weetbix and milk, sometimes two slices of toast with peanut butter or vegemite, sometimes nothing at all until 11am "brunch" whatever that turns out to be. Could be corn fritters or baked beans.
Mainly tea with milk, no sugar, and sometimes plain water after filtered. Any snack urges and a few dates do the trick, or maybe cheese on crackers. Two eggs hard boiled once in about four days. A bit of dark chocolate now and then.
Re boredom, there's never been any such word in my book. As a solitary kid for the first five years of my life some months ago, I decided I would never allow myself to be bored. Trains, boats and planes were my childhood, with as many as 80 aircraft in the basement of our house of the day, Hornby clockwork train and made-up boats.
These days of confinement are a wonderful opportunity to study and practice all sorts of chi kung techniques and skills without being interrupted too much, and the weather is being kind with some rain, but mostly lovely blue skies and interesting shining white clouds to appreciate in a world that I am mindful that I might not inhabit one day soon, if things get much worse.
There's no fear, only awareness and thanks to Upstairs to another bright day of existence in this realm, and the opportunity to help others where I am able.

My eating habits seem no different now than a month ago...same stuff, same portions. I do my regular workout as always in the morning, and in the afternoon I hike for 2-3 hours, so my activity may be more than when I was at work. So far so good.

I'm getting leaner now. I'm finding it easier at home as my stress levels are lower -- so no cheat meals and very little alcohol.

Some mornings I'll grab some weetbix and milk, See, I knew you were the one who talked about those before. Made me find some here in the states and try them and now I like them with a few raisins or blueberries and milk.

It's probably flying off the shelves faster than toilet paper.

Today at work, I finally decided to eat at 2:13 pm after not eating for slightly over 19 hours. Yesterday, Sunday at home, I started eating at 10:00 am. Food availability hunger kicked in. An idle mind is a hungry belly as the saying goes.
