Thanks for sharing but that's a yawner Mag. You spend time watching Dr. Oz? I thought only chicks did that. As far as mouth sores go, my manly advice is to pick the fur burgers you nibble on. Are you saying that the FREE info he's providing is worthless???.... And no, I really don't spend any time watching television at all, I just came across it when researching your suggestion of "low cost" 'blood work' to test for vitamin deficiencies...

***I went to the 'directlabs.com' link you provided and the fat soluble vitamin profile kit alone is over $400 ?... It could end up costing many times that amount if a person wanted to test themselves for the full spectrum of vitamins and minerals. I went to a few other places online and basically found the same thing... Here's an "affordable" one that tests for only 13 different vitamins but will cost you $499 ?... www.healthlabs.com/vitamin-nutritional-health-testing yikes, I'll be skipping that for sure. All that $$$ aside, I will once again highly recommend that if you're not working outdoors in the sunshine everyday, and for whatever reason choose not to supplement with vitamin D, you'd better go get your levels checked and have a knowledgeable doctor go over the results with you. Like I said earlier, I can fully GUARANTEE that you're deficient... Mag, there are some ND types that offer more affordable lab work packages that test for mineral and vitamin deficiencies, I just didn't post them. I don't work outdoors but I live in California and exercise outdoors, getting, I judge, plenty of sunshine. I might have a Vitamin D deficiency but when I look at the risk factors and symptoms, I'm not overly concerned that I have a deficiency. But, since I haven't had recent blood work, I really don't know, just like most people who gobble up Vitamin D supplements; they really don't know if they need them. Nutrition folklore abounds in so many fitness forum discussions about nutrition. Everyone is an expert. My aging partner in crime, Gruntbrain, recently sent me this great article that further drives home my point: www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/when-it-comes-to-nutrition-were-all-too-eager-to-ignore-the-evidence-heres-why/2020/02/23/d4dd8534-54a8-11ea-9e47-59804be1dcfb_story.htmlNow kombucha, not for me; I prefer snake oil, it tastes better. So you're going to post a link to an article written by someone with basically ZERO 'credentials' in nutrition and vitamin/mineral supplementation other than being a "journalist" & "oyster farmer" as 'proof' that none of us should be supplementing for optimal health ... Ok pal, be stubborn, it's your prerogative Just keep in mind that my admittedly somewhat limited knowledge of supplements isn't comprised of "fitness forum" hearsay or the totally ignorant 'opinions' of journalists with ZERO actual credentials in the field that they're writing about, everything I've so far suggested can be verified by very competent experts in the scientific, medical and nutrition fields. ...well, maybe not the kombucha, for that you'd have to take my word for it

For anyone interested, here's a pretty good description of 'kombucha'...

No matter how good someone thinks there diet is there's going to be some holes vitamin and mineral wise. If I take anything it will be a food based supplement or what my doctor tells me. That's why I just started taking digestive emzines and the desiccated liver capsules. I agree with the vitamin holes in a diet part. Which is why I try to minimize that with supplementation best I can, but also change what I take based off of what I feel or see in my body. I also left out CBD which is something else I started recently. also, Exactly

Mentioned earlier I was going to call my MD ophthalmologist client and ask him about lutein. Well, his ears must have been ringing because he called me this morning and I had an opportunity to ask him about lutein. He's recently retired and was in private practice for about 40 years. I asked him what he thought about lutein and he said that for people having mild to severe macular degeneration, there's evidence lutein supplementation might provide benefits for 23 to 25 percent of these people but there's no evidence for anyone else. He's not aware of there being a lutein deficiency in most people. Apparently macular degeneration is a genetic thing. He also commented there's no evidence of lutein supplementation being beneficial for eye health for anyone else.

Good thing he retired, otherwise he'd need to brush up on what the actual results and statistics are...

I'll provide video proof by actual qualified medical professionals, don't you worry ! Thanks, another chiropractic video, just what we all needed. I guess it would be smart to get my eye health information from a chiro rather than an MD ophthalmologist. If I have time, I'll consider viewing later.

If I have time, I'll consider viewing later. So the video's I posted earlier with the ophthalmologist and the M.D. were n/g for some reason ?... Here it is again... Thanks for the additional videos. So Dr. Lange is basically an optometrist not an MD ophthalmologist. He does look and sound like a salesman. He also peddles his vitamins like John Peterson used to do. Wonder if any of the benefits he shouts about have been subject to confirming research or if they're more anecdotal. He identifies himself as a "Certified Nutrition Specialist". What the hell is that? Not a medical or health license but a certificate you buy after joining an organization and paying them some money for course work and an exam. I don't doubt that he's at the top of his game but he's not a medical doctor ophthalmologist who has performed surgery on eyes and, thus, have a more comprehensive understanding of the complex eye. He does, however, look like a guy who would be a barrel of laughs drinking beer and telling dirty jokes. He actually has a chiropractic look to his persona. Bet he could sell you a timeshare in flooded Staten Island. Thanks for sharing. By the way, I'm due for an eye exam. After my busy work season, it's on my short list.
