...but anyway, back to the supplements With many of the members here in their 'mature' years I'm very surprised that nobody has mentioned lutein and zeaxanthin (?). The stuff absolutely works, and anyone whose vision 'clearly' isn't what it once was needs to give it an honest try and start supplementing. I'm 56 and still don't need to wear prescription glasses, but the last few years I've started needing to wear a pair of 'readers' on ever increasing occasions...I swear, they're printing labels smaller and smaller as time goes on !!! My 'night vision' while driving also seemed to be deteriorating.... FUCK THAT.... I did the research and 'saw the light' so to speak ... VERY glad I gave it a shot !!!! ***My excellent results were attained from taking 40mg Lutein daily, starting approximately 6 months ago*** I also added 12mg of Nutrex Astaxanthin aka 'BioAstin' to the daily mix a few months ago, and I'm definitely noticing subtle positive changes in a few things, not just a marked improvement in vision. Anyone else here take any of the aforementioned products ? What say you ?

Magnus, Are they all capsules and tablets? What food-based multi-vitamin brand are You taking? I can't afford all that stuff but more power to You. My oldest son left some Animal Paks at my house and told me to use them because he won't be around. They have just about everything in them. After using them for a week I'm thinking they may be worth the investment. If you're well-fed, and who here isn't; after all, this is America, you're likely getting all your nutrients from the food you eat. If you're making poor food choices, then concentrate on improving those choices. Unless you have a blood-work-determined nutritional deficiency, chances are you don't. If you don't have a deficiency and take supplements, you're pissing them out in the case of water-soluble vitamins, and potentially building up to toxic levels in the case of fat-soluble vitamins and minerals. There's perception in deception so if you feel better after taking your latest and greatest Fountain of Youth elixir, it may be that Mr. Placebo is tantalizing you.
Years ago, I took a nitric oxide supplement when training for a 10k fun run. I swore up and down a stack of bibles that it helped me with my race performance but in Monday morning quarterback mode, did it or was it that I trained diligently for the fun run? I'll never know but don't take it any longer.
I find that damn good sleep and rest and recovery brings out the best in my amateur athletic performances.
I tried Glucosamine-Chondroitin years ago when I had a knee acting up. I remember one guy one guy on another fitness forum telling me that if I was a responder, I'd notice benefits in about a week; otherwise, I was a non-responder and wouldn't notice any benefits. After taking it for a bit longer than this time period, I determined that I was a non-responder and tossed the bottle.
Mag, wondering if your perceived improved eye vision from taking what you shared has been verified by before and after vision tests. I guess it doesn't matter, though, because if you "feel" you're seeing better then I suppose you are and if this is your case, are you now avoiding taking that early morning look in the bathroom mirror because truth can be revealing. I wear sunglasses for that first look.

No, I don't "feel" my vision has improved, I absolutely KNOW that it's improved because I don't need to wear the 'readers' anymore to read the 'fine print' on many labels .,.YAY 😎

Now there's a challenge for the 'blood test' advocates, go have your doc test you and then thank me later 🤠 Fair enough but please, do wear them sunglasses when taking that first look at you in the morning now that you have improved vision.

No matter how good someone thinks there diet is there's going to be some holes vitamin and mineral wise. If I take anything it will be a food based supplement or what my doctor tells me. That's why I just started taking digestive emzines and the desiccated liver capsules.

Particularly as I age I've placed more focus on the importance of maintaining gastrointestinal health, and as far as the digestive enzymes go you should try 'Activia' yogurt drink, it's delicious and loaded with pro-biotics.
