Just curious, about the thoughts of people that have or did in the past take any kinds of supplements. Which supplements did You find the most beneficial? What kind of benefits did You get from them? Health wise or anything else You noticed?

I continue to enjoy the exercise and mood enhancement that caffeine provides . It's noteworthy that so called pre-workout powders contain generous amounts of caffeine along with questionable "enhancers" . Meanwhile, I'll just be satisfied using cheap caffeine .

My current list:
AM: Vitamin D, COQ10, fish oil, cranberry, Metamucil PM: Magnesium, more fish oil, more Metamucil
I take the D and magnesium because I read where those 2 were the most beneficial. I think from an article in Men's Journal. The fish oil was a recommendation from a doctor who had a special interest in heart health. COQ10 because I'm on a statin. Got that one from a pharmacist. Cranberry because it's supposed to be good for my prostate or something. Metamucil because it just works. In fact, of all the dietary supplements on the market, I find Metamucil gives you the biggest bang for your buck.

Personally, I think supplements and vitamin pills are a waste of time and money.
Instead of consuming these highly-processed foodstuffs, why not just eat a well balanced diet, emphasizing vegetables, healthy carbs, proteins, and healthy fats that are minimally processed. One key to helping choose a varied diet is to look for varied colors. Apples, blueberries, beans, greens, oats, tofu, lean meats etc provide a lot of different colors.I don't think we need supplements or vitamin pills.
Let your food be beautiful, smell good, taste worderful, and be a joy to eat.

ZMA is the only one I'm currently using. It improves the depth of my sleep considerably. It is also great for the male anatomy.

Yeah, I take ZMA myself for periods of time. Agree, same experience, " It improves the depth of my sleep considerably. It is also great for the male anatomy." Some things I got from working with professionals because of some conditions I developed from my food allergies are to stay away from synthetic supplements and my needs are different(of course). Also, as Mr.P has stated in the past, maybe a little different, I can't get all my needs from the food I eat. I know this from my personal experiences from not recovering for the next day from work or whatever else I do. Two things that have helped me tremendously are Desiccated Liver capsules and Digestive enzymes.

Years ago I asked a pharmacist what multi-vitamin he recommends, and he said Centrum. I've been taking one every morning since then, and it does make me feel a bit more perky. But, as Alan says, that doesn't negate eating healthily. Also, there's nothing like a good night's sleep to make you feel energized.
I wouldn't call this a supplement, but I have an energy drink each morning before my workout. Get a bit of a buzz on. I just get powdered stuff from my grocery store that comes in a little box of individual packets. I like the wild cherry.
I've also been taking Creatine for the last three months. After all these years, thought I'd give it a shot. Hasn't done a thing to increase muscle size, and I don't really feel anything special or different with it, so once it's gone, I won't be getting any more.
I once asked a nutritionist what she thought of protein supplements, and she told me she'd rather see people get all the protein they need from food.

I agree with machine head about Metamucil, I have been taking it for the last 15 yrs. and the stuff is wonderful, I also take a multi vitamin, vitamin C, fish oil, magnesium which is good for people who have A fib like myself, Glucosamine and tumeric for my knees, which has helped a lot, and 2 scoops of collagen in my coffee in the morning ,my knees have been pain free for the last 9 months, better than having to get a cortisone shot .

...... I once asked a nutritionist what she thought of protein supplements, and she told me she'd rather see people get all the protein they need from food. That's ideal. I have some whey protein powder. Since I avoid dairy, it's my only way to add dairy flavor - I guess because it's .... well ..... derived from dairy. But now, I have become so accustomed to eating no dairy that I rarely use it.

This is what I did to fix a knee that had broken down, I assume from the cortisone shot it received, since the other knee, which had not had the cortisone shot, was fine and I read that cortisone eats cartilage. Before I discovered this ^, my knee hurt so bad sometimes it made me holler. It's been such a long time now that I've been supplementing for it that I forget exactly, but I think I began to notice improvement after a few months. Now, it feels normal and I forget how badly it had hurt. I just take my stuff and give it no thought.

My key supplement is a strong cup of coffee each morning with nothing added.
I do currently use protein powder that I add to my steel cut oats and plain Greek yogurt. I also use flax meal that I also add. Nothing else for me at the moment.
