It could be a good piece of equipment if it is finely and easily adjustable. It will be out my price range either way.

It would make a great impulse purchase.

Usually when someone posts an exercise device, like the X3, I can see so many advantages The Hook has over them, but, I'll have to admit, this looks like a winner. I wonder how much it will cost? Of course, it won't come anywhere near to "singularly the greatest isometric exerciser ever developed". Not even close - the 28' seatbelt for which an announcement will be made...sometime. But it will be well worth the wait.

I won't be buying it. I do have a couple of Isorobic units I got cheap on ebay. I have to admit to never really having gotten into using them in my workouts much, though I did have one hooked to a door for a while to use for upper body cardio using a xcross ski movement.
I just like to post things that seem relevant to interests here. If its expensive I always know there is a better DIY solution.

I’ve recently been experimenting with using the Sierra iso-strap, with a handle hooked into one of the loops and my foot in another loop, for self-resisted exercise - pitting my upper body (single arm curls, single arm rows, even single arm presses) against the pressing force of one of my legs. I keep my body stable by holding onto a doorway, as I’m effectively standing on one leg while using the other to generate resistance.
I’m able to provide as much or as little resistance as needed in this way - enough force for an isometric hold, or even more for negatives.
Has anyone else tried this kind of strap-assisted self resistance before, and if so, what has your experience been of it’s ability to build strength?

S4, I've done this before and liked it. I did the same exercises You mentioned plus the Overhead Tricep Extension. Even though it wasn't done with one leg, I did a self-resistance deadlift with those exercises. I will say that the Sierra Iso Strap makes these exercises easier to work with. Also, do self-resistance with the iso strap You can use so much more tension plus the weight of Your leg. I have no proof on if they built strength other than I felt stronger doing them this way. My personal opinion is You can getter stronger doing this. Most people will doubt this because they don't have the patience to open their minds. Silverlooks touched on this in another thread.

It would make a great impulse purchase. That's what I plan But seriously, these exercises look attractive to me, I love suspension training and experimented before; an Exergenie, a diy Gruntergenie, a suspension trainer with a wheel (returned). The combination with the elastic could work too. On the other hand, what I disliked about these devices was the lack of smoothness, and I see that in these videos too.

Hey Michael, thanks for the feedback.
Just to be sure we’re talking about the same kinds of exercise: what I’ll do, for instance, for a self-resisted bicep curl is:
- Put my right foot into loop 1 of the Sierra strap, and then put the hook of a handle through loop 5 and hold the handle in my right hand. - When my arm is at 90°, my foot right foot is elevated off the ground, at about the height of my left knee. - Then I press down with my right leg - with as much or as little force as I choose - until my foot is flat on the ground, which pulls my arm open from 90° to just about 180°.
Is this the same kind of self-resisted exercise you mean.
Also, could you tell me about the isometric deadlift you mentioned?
Much appreciated!

s4l4dr3ss1ng, I do something similar to this photo but resisting with both hands, great for the legs and arms. I like the concept and am going to try it in other exercises.

Those leg-resisted curls and such can be done lying on your back on the floor also--I seem to remember Jack Savage doing them this way, allows for all out resistance without the balance problem.

Self resistance with the Sierra iso strap. The deadlift I was talking about was a self resistance exercise with the Sierra Iso strap. You can do Romanian or a regular deadlift. All I did was stand both feet on the strap and put one Hook handle through a loop from both sides. Then I would grap the Hook handle with both hands. Then just do the deadlift movement while pulling on the handle to provide resistance. I got the idea of the self resistance deadlift from Fred Hutch. You can use a Hook handle on each side if You want. It just felt more comfortable in the middle for me.
