If Mario trained you, and you put in an honest effort, no matter what kind of 'genetics' you had, you were going to progress, there were no more EXCUSES.... www.mariostrong.com/Marios looks like my kind of place.

It's a cool website also...
If you read through this part.... www.mariostrong.com/morethanjustart.html .... you'll get an idea of what it was actually like growing up during those times on that island, Mario isn't kidding when he describes what it used to be like living in New York City, you never exactly knew what kind of trouble you'd run into as you turned the corner, as a matter of fact if you were so inclined, the opportunity to get into a fistfight pretty much was available to you just about every day or night !

Mag, did a little investigation via Facebook and learned that Joe Carrero is Johnny Carrero's brother. Apparently, Joe won a Mr. Natural bodybuilding contest a few years ago.
Again, I know Johnny from the gym I used to train. He's about 55 years old and a personal trainer and, like a typical native Staten Islander, he'll annoy you if you spend too much time in conversation with him. He bought me a box of depends for my 50th birthday and I wrote a poem that I read to him at his 40th birthday party. Think my poem beat his box of depends in the laughs generated department. I no longer train at a gym so don't have frequent contact with him but I still know he's out there behaving like a Staten Islander.
Speaking of experts, Johnny would always correct my pull-ups form at the gym. He did so one time after I had banged out about a dozen flawless (in my opinion) reps. I politely told him why doesn't he demonstrate about a dozen reps of this perfect form he was telling me about so I could better learn first hand by his example. End of conversation and Johnny never gave me unsolicited form critique again. He's a good guy and a good personal trainer. The woman like him because he has a good ear listening to them bitch about their husbands. A real gym psychologist.

I don't live there anymore, as a matter of fact I can't stand the place, but...Hey, ho, just so ya' know, it's pronounced 'Stat-Nylan' and it's known for having very fine women , a '3' on the island is like a 9 or a 10 in other parts of the country ...
