I'm just interested to see if anyone on here has or does a strictly DVR routine by itself and what their results were !?
I myself have done nothing but DVRs for months on end and it gave me and still does the best results out of all the training tools I've ever used over the 16 years I've been training !
It will be good to here of everyone's results .

Baz, first off nice to see You posting on here. Much respect. I believe You know this already but DVRs are pretty much the same as Bruce's KSHD www.angelfire.com/ny5/shenandoah/OBB/VE.html and what was called VRT (Visualized Resistance Training). In the past, I have used them by themselves and in conjunction with calisthenics. I never was a big guy but I did get a nice pump when I used them. If my diet was on point I thought I looked more muscular, , but some would say that was an illusion. You've always looked lean and mean so they are definitely working for You. From my personal experience, I thought I looked muscular from them. The drawback that I had(everyone is different) was I felt I lost strength for picking up heavy things. Picking up and carrying things I do on a constant base. I was getting injured more often at work until I went back to KBs, DBs, and bands. Maybe I just didn't find the right combanation of exercises. I'm not saying this will be everyone's results. They are a very good way to exercise and who knows I may have to come back to them someday. If I have to I'll have no problem with it. My friend, they have done You well. I definitely would hate to meet You in a dark alley, glad I can still run, .

Hey Mike good to hear from you mate , I spoke to you a couple years back when i used to post on here . It's interesting that you mentioned how you got more injured at work when using DVRs and that you found kettlebells worked better , I'm the complete opposite. I used to LOVE my kettlebells and i got in crazy shape, I'm talking ripped and muscular just from kettlebells alone but they really messed up my back , hips and shoulders so i had to give them up . I get the best results from DVRs by using low volume so like 3 sets of 5 per exercise. I workout with dumbbells too and i find they build size and strength very easily but i also find them very boring and i don't get that "workout buzz" like i do from calisthenics and self resistance .
I enjoyed reading your view on DVRs mate very interesting and you look in great shape too mate !

I use DVR or VRT or KSHD or co-contraction for some body and leg muscles as the addition to my self-resistance training.

Hi baz!
Could you tell me how you have trained? Full body? Split? How long do you need for one workout?
Hope for an answer!

Sorry mate i ain't been on here recently due to working nights . So my routine at the moment is a push pull split using only calisthenics . My first set is to failure then the following 2 sets are sub max , I'm going to increase reps each week or two to gain progression / results . I dedicate 1 day for legs which is usually 5 sets of hindu squats .
Push- mondays+Thursdays
Pike push ups 3 sets Diamond push ups 3 sets Normal push ups 3 sets Incline push ups 3 sets Tricep dips 3 sets
Pull- Tuesday's + Friday's
Pull ups 3 sets Chin ups 3 sets Inverted rows 3 sets Dorsal raises 3 sets Bicep curls on trx 3 sets
When i do strictly bodyweight routines i find i get my best results by going for high reps and pushing to muscular failure or when i start to feel the burn. When doing strictly DVR routines i get my best results on a push pull split similar to my sample split above and with about 5 moves per body part but i go for heavy low reps , 3 sets to 5 or 6 .

Nice work Baz! I found the opposite of Yourself. With calisthenics, I tend to do better when I make them harder and do lower reps. With DVRs in the past, I always preferred higher reps.

Admin, please move this thread to the Discussion Section. Sorry, Bob! I know it's a bit late. I don't if I missed this before or if I forgot to move it. It's done now, m8.
