Not a Fall 2019 fitness goal but a decent middle-aged man fitness benchmark. Building my video collection so when I’m an old man sitting in a rocking chair and crapping my pants, I’ll have some videos to view and enjoy my yesteryear glory days.

Today’s workout was weighted alternating pull-ups and chin-ups with 24kg KB added for 10 rounds starting a new round every 3:00. Wrapped up with burpees.

Have the weighted pull-ups/chins made You stronger at them when You do them without weight? Do they feel easier? Did Your reps increase? Good Job!

Michael, yes , yes and yes although increase in max reps single set BW-only is a slow ascend as you get at the top. Goal is a 1 rep increase a month which I consider a challenge.

Burpees are hard, hate doing them but love the cardiovascular conditioning benefits doing them yields.

Still enjoying the grandsons and I got another one in Sept. They think they figured out where they are coming from and this might be the last.
I tried out your sprint 8 burpees workout. Got 7 on interval 1 and was on my jump for interval 2 for rep 8. Close enough for me to count. All the rest of the intervals were 8 reps. I had not done burpees for a couple of years so there was a lot of sucking air.

Great job Bob and so brave of you given you haven’t done burpees in a couple years, braver than walking into a biker bar and telling the biggest and meanest biker that you want to fight him. One of my goals is to do a freestanding unassisted pistol squatting, then even a dragon squat . . .
At the mo I use the overhead pulley with long strap handles for a little assist, they keep me forward rather than using them to help pull me up,the weight stack is set at slot 5.
Also a straight leg head to knees forward bend plus elbows touch floor when holding toes.
I trained myself to do a freestanding pistol and was able to do 2 reps on each leg....it was a long progression and my knees won't allow it today. But I can do assisted pistols using a heavy band which I sit in while doing them. I've never seen Dragon pistols before....they look interesting

I use to be able to do 3 each leg anytime and my best was 10 when I first used creatine. I neglected doing pistols then went to show somebody and found I'd lost the ability. I can do assisted Dragon pistols, they're done in Chen style Tai Chi competition forms which are on YouTube. That’s impressive Henry.

Another bar dips test today, banged out 27 bar dips, one more than last test 11 days ago. I think the burpees workouts I’m doing are giving me spillover benefits.

I found out this weekend that the Sprint 8 burpees workout did not show me where my burpee conditioning was at. I thought since the Sprint 8 burpees went ok, that I would give a shot at my old burpee’s routine. 10 burpees every minute for 10 sets and I get to rest the rest of the minute. I laid out my 10 shinny pennies to track my sets and pushed the timer. The problem was the first set did not get done until 47 seconds. By the end of the 3rd set, I was sucking air and went outside to cool off. The 4th set did not start until around 3M 30S and I was doing 5 burpees and resting to get the next 5. I ended up with 50 burpees at 6:37.
When I was a kid and we went to a buffet or a family reunion, my dad use to say that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I don’t know the burpee equivalent saying is, but on paper burpees are always a lot easier than in real life!
