Listen to the podcast and you'll find out what he was saying about cold potato. It had nothing to do with any sort of paleo agenda. as I said, don't like the Rogan podcasts anymore, so not going to put myself through almost 3 hours of it. But I know Kresser is/was himself a paleo guy, so I just wondered if potatoes are now considered paleo, or not? It's hard to keep up with these fads. But after some quick research, Kressers version of "paleo" seems much more sensible and includes legumes, dairy and potatoes amongst other things. In addition, even the remaining "bad/evil/modern" foods seem now also be OK in moderation. So, in other words, getting very close to the standard diet advice you get from the NHS and other reputable health websites (which is a good thing). Hopefully, the culty paleo name is dropped altogether soon and it is just relabeled as "healthy eating" or "avoiding processed foods" or a "real food diet", something the mainstream has been pushing for some time! Kresser actually seems to agree with me on most of my paleo criticisms and the stupid culty name/meme:- "So yes, paleo may not actually be paleo. We will probably never know exactly what our paleo relatives ate.", "I really wish there was a word (other than paleo) I could use to describe a nutrient-dense, toxin-free, whole-foods based diet." "I wish there was another term I could use that didn’t evoke a quasi-religious debate. But I don’t know of one, so for now, I guess I’ll just have to deal with all of the baggage that comes with “paleo”."

Mikey is the obvious choice to try the cold potato diet. Did Kresser say he eats cold potatoes? (I didn't watch the video). Some years ago he said that he avoids white potatoes because he did not feel well on them. He's not strict paleo even with his own diet. He sometimes recommends that people that consult with him who have several health problems, go on a strict paleo diet for a while to see if any of the problems clear up and then gradually reintroduce omitted foods to see if any of the problems come back again.

Jake -- it was essentially sensible eating advice yes. I guess the big difference is that he'd probably say a lot of the standard dietary advice fails to work because the food combinations trigger our reward mechanisms too much and we over eat.
Bruv -- I'd have to listen again re whether he now eats them. The potato thing came up as an extreme way of eating for fast fat loss.

I remember when I first began to post on this bored, I mentioned something about how I ate a "paleo" diet - assuming that it meant eating like my near ancestors - I listed some foods I eat and one was potatoes. Bruv quickly corrected me that, "Potatoes aren't Paleo!" That was my first lesson on the forums. Not sure why potatoes aren't considered paleo by paleo people though. Haven't ancient civilizations always eaten roots and tubers? The Indians that lived in my area ate Jerusalem Artichokes - a tuber - & potatoes which, I've read, were later introduced to Europe?

I've decided to start a new food diet plan and call it, " Modern Paleo", m8s! Potatoes will be in there!

Whether potatoes are paleo or not doesn't matter as Kresser is not a paleo guy and has said he is not on his website. I didn't know he was a quack so thanks for pointing that out.

I don't think Kresser is a quack. He's not even an MD? He seems genuine and in the interview he admits when he doesn't know something. I've heard him before and, although I may not agree w/ him 100%, he does have helpful info to share that works in my experience.

Sorry, I didn't mean you said he was a quack. On page one it was mentioned that Rogan has quacks on his show.

He has a big mix of guests -- from well-respected scientists to UFO nuts to UFC guys; plus people in showbiz. So a real big mix.

I've seen a few of his shows. He had the psychologist Jordan Peterson on. I thought he had a lot of interesting stuff to say and doesn't seem like some sort of quack or fraud.

yeah he has had some good guests, but some not so good too, he does tend to fall for whatever is in vogue, like that bulletproof guy. He used to be a lot better, I listened to him all the time, but it got to the stage for me there was too much Joe and not enough guest in his podcasts, it was so frustrating when he had a decent guest on. I only listen to him now if he has someone really interesting on and I can't find a decent interview anywhere else, which luckily isn't often. I think the last one I listened to was actually the Rhonda Patrick one that someone else posted.
its probably just that he is a big celeb alpha male type so is not used to letting others do the talking

Yes Jordan Peterson is very good. He's doing a lot of good work exposing the transgender pronoun nonsense infecting university campuses.
Jake -- he did fall for the bulletproof stuff, but was happy to totally expose Dave too when he learned the guy was popping loads of stimulants and making other false claims.
