Dynoman I think they are excellent supplement. I don't take now but have over the years www.bodybuilding.com/fun/animalpak52.htmThis is part about purity Liver tabs, in my opinion, should be a regular part of your supplement program. Now there are a couple of different liver products out there. If you're looking to try it out, choose a good one. Good liver tabs start with good liver: exclusively grass-fed, prized cattle from Argentina. These prized Argentinian cattle are raised without the use of steroids, hormones, pesticides or other such contaminants. So you get a liver that's healthy, clean and pure. You also gotta check to make sure the liver is certified BSE-free. Remember mad cow disease?

I buy the desiccated liver capsules (Argentina). I think capsules are easier to digest.

I guess I have two questions.
Why would anyone eat liver if there’s filet mignon, tri tip, New York and other choice beef cuts? Flavor, cheaper?
Why do you fellas who take liver tabs do so? From what Bob Hoffman said in a 50 year old issue of Strength and Health?

One much more current article than one from the Bob Hoffman era. Tablets can be a more palatable, convenient and nutritonally concentrated option for many. Long article but thorough. draxe.com/is-liver-good-for-you/The embedded video is worth watching

I completely avoid charred or fried foods anymore, but my favorite liver used to be from a local restaurant that deep fried breaded liver. It was crunchy outside and a soft, juicy inside. Delicious! Liver has noticeably given me more physical endurance when I eat it or take the supplement regularly. The difference in energy was unmistakable. I take very little of the supplement form now since my days of employment in strenuous physical labor are long gone, but I do eat liver occasionally - probably as often as I eat steak - maybe once in a couple weeks or a month in about 4oz portion - same as for steak. I'm not on a schedule with meals, so I eat whatever I'm hungry for at the time or what I have on hand. As a result of this thread, I may start taking the capsules again .....?

Enjoyed your post Mr P. Completely agree about charred foods. Interesting you mentioned energy from liver supplements. That is what I noticed about it and many of the others that took it over the years. The B complex is very important on energy levels and liver very high in B12.
Dynoman what is reason you take and what was benefit you noticed most? I don't think it is as efficient as a protein supplement. Various protein powders are better for that. Quick release whey and slower release casein. But as I have gotten older I try to rely less on supplements and get things I need from whole foods

Never had it, maybe one day I'll give it a chance but always found a good steak to be enough. Bison is super good. Expensive but something to have every now and then.

Stormshadow, I take the liver capsules because like you mentioned the extra energy it gives me plus a bit more protein, back in the 80’s I took the Beverley International liver tablets like 15 a day and that was tough to swallow, but I am planning on cutting back on my supplements, and maybe take a B complex tablet or maybe just B 12 which I hear is great.

An experiment done on mice treading water, the ones given liver tab went 7 times longer. Henry until you mentioned it I had forgotten about that study. Pretty impressive.
