Grunt - Agree 100% with you my man. When Dr. Crunch first brought up the declining levels of synovial fluid produced by the body with each decade, some reading revealed the man knew his stuff and advice was right on the mark. Hence when I lift heavy (for me these days) no full ROM. While some may disagree with Pete Sisco's claims or methods, he made an excellent point when he said in real life, rarely when moving heavy objects do you use a full ROM if at all -- he felt the body protects itself during these times from extreme positions. And my apologies, as I can't remember where I'd read this, but one of the static contraction machine sites showed -- based on research done in various journals (and they'd cited the publications) -- that the angle that optimally engages or recruits the max # of muscle fibers is very limited. I'll continue to look for the site, but, an example would be a bench press or pushups...you only need to move your arms back around 4" max to engage the most pectoral, deltoid, triceps, etc., muscle. yeah I dont think the full ROM argument really stands up, lots of bodybuilders short range their reps as do the HIT crowd, both with good results. Whenever I hear the argument, I always remember that video of the guy doing a really heavy leg press when he fully straightened his legs at the end and one of them folded backwards the wrong way and snapped, yuk. I think it was Drew Baye or maybe Doug mcguff that used the video as part of their argument to avoid fully extending limbs. I cant remember the full explanation, but it was something to do with one limb being just very slightly shorter than the other and then when you hit failure all the weight can quickly transfer to just one joint. Lots of BB's are on roids etc.. so they will gain no matter what they do.

Pete Sisco's site, if you haven't visited it, has quite a bit of free information on partial reps and isometrics if you haven't gone through the site. Another thing worth considering are the posts and the feedback shared by various people who've tried his methods. There are a number of "greybeards", to borrow from Grunt, who have written of their experiences. At least one or two have said after reading Pete's ideas on isometric training and his references, they were able to resume heavy training after curtailing their workouts due to shoulder issues for example. Pete's received a lot of criticism over the years, some deserved as he publishes books with ripped bb'ers on the covers or posing as models...Pete's admitted he doesn't care about appearance but how far he can take his lifts. Here are a couple of items that may be of interest, agree or disagree: www.precisiontraining.com/35-lbs-of-muscle-and-six-months-of-rest-between-workouts/www.precisiontraining.com/products/mass-gain-study-part-1/ The "35# of muscle" guy is suspect to me. They don't say (or I didn't see) his BF% before, from when he was lighter wt. 19% BF is below 'average', but not much and that's what he was AFTER he supposedly added "35#" of "muscle". Could it have been fat? Does this make sense to anyone else?

19% may be average. I don't really know. I thought average was around 22% - 24%, but 19% isn't anything great though .... no offense intended. It would be more informative to know what his BF was before he started the program.

The only reason I posted that picture of me is, because seeker got all testosterone a while ago and posted a topless pic of himself. When I saw it I thought for a laugh to grab a phone and take a pic in the mirror to use as my avatar. If I had an ego I would have probably shaved my body hair, done some muscle pumping and chose some better lighting, but I could not be bothered. I am sure there are guys on here who do proper training, like whiffet for example, that have far better bodies than me!
