I do 2 mornings a week at the gym - about 40 mins each session (nothing too strenous - 8 and 12kg kettlebells) , 2 mornings a week stretching for 40 mins at home and one morning a week doing balance work, again for about 30-40 minutes. I don't really feel it is that intense based on what I see other people doing at the gym - in fact I often feel I'm not working hard enough. However, about 9 days ago I woke up and just felt exhausted and was dreading going to the gym so I decided to take some time out and just do stretching every day. I've just started with the bells again after 9 days of stretching and I'm amazed at how much easier all the exercises feel. Think I'm gonna take a week off more often - I enjoyed it so much. As someone commented earlier it's about being healthy and feeling good and I just didn't feel like I was either! I think stretching is the most important thing that everyone one should do. I always stretch daily, I do not time myself, I just do each stretch until the muscle aching subsides.

I used to do a lot of stretching but have come to believe that it is overrated, I still stretch, but in my experience, doing a full range of motion incorporates a decent stretch in itself I still stretch at the end of a session, but nowhere near what i used to

So the next day I can go in refreshed again, maybe it is just a placebo effect, but I have found it works for me.

Sometimes you gotta let the body fully recover and when you come back you hit new personal records

My "feeling better" after the 9 days may well have just been as a result of not exercising rather than specifically stretching. I do enjoy stretching and it feels great at the time. However, I find the muscles tense back up again fairly quickly. I feel that mobility work is probably more beneficial to me in the long term, just doesn't feel so great when actually doing it.

The only time I ever stretch is 5 minutes before I go for a run. I feel like it helps though

I like stretching and do it often in various ways - like hanging, for example.

The sturdy Sierra Strap is a great stretching tool and is more versatile than commercial stretching/Yoga straps .
