Here are two more shin exercises. First from David Luna's book "Ultimate Fitness", simply walk around balanced on your heels. I used to do this one a great deal, forgot all about it until this thread reminded me of it, did it this morning and I could really feel it in the shins. I wrote an article for MILO about calf training years ago and this was the only shin exercise I recommended.
Another one that was advocated by both Al Colangelo (RIP) and Eddie Ivester (RIP) as a traditional kung fu exercise, and which oddly enough is also found in the Charles Atlas (RIP) course. Simply stand on the floor and raise up on the balls of the feet, come down and raise up on the heels, back and forth alternating. Nice move.

Nice Fred! I use to do both these before, Thanks for the reminder. This morning I used Bruce's cables on a low anchor with socks on and pulled my toes back as Your described earlier. Bruce's Hook makes this much more comfortable than just the cables itself. Liked it.

Alan, as my stepkids would say, "just f****** google it!" But Okay, just for you old pal...I don't remember what DARD stands for, but it is a device that hooks onto your feet, loaded with weights, that allows you to train your shins. It was invented by Bob Gajda. It is popular with runners because it helps to alleviate muscle imbalances between shin and calf; that's the reason I use it, I always try to train each muscle or movement and it's opposite, no muscle imbalances here, m8. Bodybuilders use it because well developed shin muscles add detail to the lower leg. Okay? ..... Thanks Fred,
When I googled, I did not come up with anything very enlightening. DARD: Dynamic Axial Resistance Device

I've read several articles by and about Sergio Oliva in which he said he trained with Bob Gajda and and PHA. Serge had nothing but good things to say about Gajda and that method of training.

Because of the time I have to training in the morning most of the time I do KB complexes, circuits, etc... I just like that kind of stuff because I feel like it's cardio and strength training all wrapped up in one. But messing around with PHA what a difference. It's definitely circuit training on steriods. This post is filled with all You need to know. When I first posted this I had no idea how fun this would be for me. Fred is always filled with info. You can use weights, KBs, cables, bodyweight, self resistance, KSHD, or whatever.
