Call me my friend. We really do have a LOT to talk about... BTW, have you ever been to Idaho? Heard it gets chilly this time of year and the rooms are much much warmer.

Yeah the short workout is misleading because as Bruce said on a good week I'll spend 6-8 hours a week in the sea, with lots of paddling.
I sleep naked.
Mum's lasagne has no mushroom.
I workout in tatty old gear.
The routine someone posted has each day doing either heavy work, light work, or medium resistance work. I still use that idea, but keep the sets lower at the moment.
I do 16/8 fasting.

I get lean by cutting alcohol. The 16/8 fasting stops me overeating as I eat far less that way.
Here is a typical day. It's nothing special:
Meal 1: two wholemeal rolls, soup, whey shake. It's a low fat meal, but that is deliberate as I want the carbs if I am in the sea after work.
Meal 2: if I want to lose fat, one banana mixed with a scoop of whey and some walnuts. If I don't want to lose fat I'll add oats.
Meal 3: pile of vegetables (a lot) with some chicken, rice, and a hot/spicy sauce.
Snacks: apples/pears/walnuts
The actual protein from deliberate sources is obviously the whey and chicken, but even then that'll be no more than 70 grams. Other protein will obviously be in things such as the bread etc -- which will bring the daily total up. But nothing near what is recommended by the magazines. I've tried that and it makes no difference.
The reason for using the whey is simply convenience.
Treats: I'll have treats -- pizza one night. Mum's roast. Few ciders.

Cheers Whiffet ,just that the best one i've ever eaten had a few sliced ones in it. You are pretty strict on diet by the looks of it and don't seem to eat that much.Never tried soup for Breakfast.I take it that the 16/8 diet means you eat in an 8 hour window. I really like your routine ,obviously works. 2 sets of 4/5 exercises has always felt right to me,best results i had was from an Ellington Darden book ,HIT but not that brief ,2 sets of about 10-12 exercises i think. Couldn't face that now or need it , half as much twice a week as my recovery has got worse. God time goes fast , Whiffet approaching middle age ,not that you look or probably feel it.I think you are inspiring a few on here.

Although the soup is breakfast, it's actually 1.15 pm in the office when I have it owing to the eating window!
I don't feel my age at all.
I always avoid failure, but my training is certainly geared towards the low volume HIT philosophy.
Like most people I often find it a battle getting lean. I can be strict for weeks then suddenly get lots of cravings etc.

Thank you ripped one. Can you discuss how you eat year round too. Also were you ever fat in your life? I've been too fat -- but that was when I was working out doing one of those squats and milk type routines. I've never been fat and non active.

I still need to do a proper write up re my routine, but it is essentially what Earle Liederman used to recommend. Obviously the result is a type of look that was typical back in that pre 1940s era. That's why I think pre 1940s advice was more honest and did what it said on the tin.

Nothing special, either a pair of Daisy Duke shorts or a pair of tight white pants!

Whiffet - Thanks so much for taking the time to share this information. And pictures obviously speak to the value of your program, both exercise and diet. BTW, I think I've seen you here in the US a couple of times?

Whiffet spends a lot of time surfing. That builds great triceps, shoulders, and lats. You shoulda seen some of the Hawaiians I went to school with. I've been on the North Shore on Oahu a few times while in Hawaii and the surfers that were out there were a mixed bag, but, most were pretty lean which I'd guess would be a combination of youth and being active. Even the great Laird Hamilton, who is in terrific shape, may have been similar in build to Whiffet when he was younger (and Laird does train with weights), but, I'd say Whiffet's achieved better results. Speaking of Laird, if you haven't seen this video, pretty cool:

Thanks TR.
The workout I posted was a summer/autumn routine. Our clocks change this weekend in the UK, the result being it will be dark when I get home each evening -- so no water time. I'll then start doing pulls for the shoulders using strands. I'll also focus on more strength work, and do cardio three nights a week too. The cardio is simple: 15 mins of non-stop jumping variations. I did burpees last year for cardio but overtrained.

Do You still use the rucksack with added weight? Do you vary your reps throughout the week the same as the blog workout?
