Very good point. You mean pretty much being authentic I suppose. Be yourself and be loyal to your values. Support your country and your troops when it's the right thing to do, otherwise don't. Patriotism is nothing more than a tool to manipulate people by driving them through their guts while deactivating their brains. Don't be proud of your country just because. It's not your merit to have been born there. It was chance. Be proud of the things you and your loved ones accomplish. First thing that came to my mind when I read your comment.. That was both horrifying and heartbreaking. That man has a gift for turning thoughts into the right words. And what he's describing is war, plain and simple. I remember an interview with a WW2 American veteran in Japan, who said something like : "They said we had to hate the Japanese. They were the enemy. And I just accepted it and stopped thinking altogether, because if I kept thinking the only conclusion I could get to was 'why the hell should I hate them? I only see kids with friends, with families, with girlfriends, and they were scared to death, just like us!". I got chills on my spine.

The list didn't contain, "Be Prepared", so I assumed it was directed toward wives.

Re telling people to go to hell: because you should be willing to walk away from anything and start over from scratch if you have to, and not degrade yourself by putting up with shit.
Davy Crockett, after being defeated for reelection to Congress, told his constituents, "You may all go to hell, and I'm going to Texas". They took honor more seriously in those days of course, a man's honor was considered his most valuable possession and the better ones back then would die before dishonoring themselves.
Might be even more fun to sing Ceelo Green's classic song "F*** You" at them...

Honest, admits his mistakes, has compassion for others and willing to be there for people who think they don't deserve it. That's just one. Sometimes I list people off who I consider honorable and has incredible integrity and inspirational....
Bud Jeffries
Mike Bruce
My second mom Juanita
Just to name a few along with Tyler Bramlett, Logan Christopher. Most of these names you'll recognize but may hound for some odd reason. I would add maybe my late stepdad who taught me how to treat people and living life on your own terms even in tragedy.
