Don't ask me why but I am a connoisseur of training books.
I managed to buy a copy of JP' s Ultimate pushups for the awesome physique. I got it for cheap.
I have finished reading it, but the jury is still out with the contents of the training routines within the pages.
Anybody else had a chance to read a copy, if so what was your take on it?
Keith.

I actually thought Living Strength might be out when I read the thread title. I've only ever read terrible feedback anout the push program. Doesn't he now say weight vests are the way forward, or has he moved on to something else?

Keith I'm the one who sold it to You on Ebay. You got it cheap because no one wants it, I got tired of looking at it on my book case. I'm not trying to be smart I'm just telling it the way I see it. Whiffet it's differant everytime, but this is the push up book he put out a couple of years ago.
I did the push up program twice. You're doing the push ups everyday, If I remember right one day off, and a percentage of Your max is what You do. The percentage changes everyday. My honest opinion, why do just push ups everyday. Yeah I did it but it causes muscle imbalances in my opinion. You're kind of overtraining, it's a temporay program. If that's what You like. It's suppose to increase the amount of push ups You can do in one set. I increased I believe it was 10 more reps after four weeks. For me if that's Your thing there's better ways to increase them.
Now just to let You know Pavel wrote a book called,"Beyond Bodybuilding" in 2005, I have it.It's a very good book and was written years before the Ultimate Push up book. On page 284-285 in Beyond Bodybuilding, actually in Naked Warrior also, his high- tension technique for push ups is written word for word in that book. Laurence Morehouse push up program is in Beyond Bodybuilding also on page 287-289.

Thanks to the inspiration provided here and on AMM, he's recently moved on to long duration isometric holds.

Are you saying text in Pavel's "Beyond Bodybuilding" and "Naked Warrior" is reproduced in Peterson's "Ultimate Pushups"?

I got an email from one person who bought "Ultimate Pushups" and was disappointed with it.

So just to nail this down ... does JP's push-up book use chunks of text from Pavel's books word for word without credit?

In his PYTP, Mr. "Always Gives Credit Where Credit is Due" copied my Zen-in-the-Art exercise naming convention. He, of course, denies this. There are a couple of specific reasons as to how I came up with this naming convention. Someone ought to ask JP how he "independently" came up with the exact same thing. But, of course, the question would never see the light of day and the inquirer would be immediately banned.
He also plagiarized some copy from my ZITA home page. I can't prove this because at some point I decided that all that I had written was too wordy, so I went through and deleted text that I felt was unneeded. Apparently, Mr. Original had scooped it up before I got rid of it.

Whiffet, The High Intensity Techinque Pavel used in Naked Warrior for push ups and one arm push ups. It's not alot but yes he used it. The push up program in Beyond Bodybuilding is by Laurence Morehouse which he modeled the program after. It's not exactly the same. Bruce I never thought about Your naming convention. It was up before that book came out. Now I know I assumed wrong, but I always thought that was done by You guys for simplicity. That is pretty lame and lazy. I know three guys that are on the internet, two wrote books and one did not, that used weight lifting name for the self resistance exercises.

I wonder how much of his new book will be his own material and how much will be copied from other sources.
If it ever comes out.
Keith.

It's definitely not needed by anyone. By the way Whiffet, I think you like some of Pavel's stuff. Beyond Bodybuilding is a very good book.
Keith I do appologise for turning this thread negative. I hope You do get good use out of that book if that's what You like.
