I looked around the house for somewhere to attach some bands for a cable cross over set up. I realised that I could attach the bands at each end of a sturdy shelf unit that's about 1.9 m wide that is screwed to the wall in the garage. The shelf unit has loads of holes in the vertical bars so you can change the height of the shelves so I put strong hooks in a hole at each end and attached the bands to the hooks and away I went. It works really well and because the bands are weaker in the start position they are not a problem on my dodgy shoulder. I've seen set ups online where the bands are all attached to one anchor point. Not satisfactory at all.

I used to have two chest expanders anchored under the legs at the the foot of the bed. It was perfect for cable crossovers

Not satisfactory at all. When You do Your cable crossover exercise are You crossing Your hands over each other? Or touching Your fist/hands in front? When Your shoulder gives You trouble where do You feel it? Front, side, or rear part of the delt? Just curious. I know for myself, if my shoulder acts up I feel it in the rear part. But I know that's mostly a muscle imbalance for me. I've tried those doorway overhead isometrics that were mentioned here but they never workout for me. I just do rear delt work and it goes away.

I didn't cross the hands over each other. Just hands touching at the moment. The problem is at the front of the shoulder. I don't feel it in the delts exactly. It's in the area where the tendons from the biceps and the pecs meet up. If I was lying on my back doing a chest fly then the arm out to the side is the vulnerable position. If my arm is in the same position with a band fly I'm ok because the band isn't so strong in my vulnerable position. I don't stand too far from the anchor points so I can get at least 10 reps per set. I think if I stood a bit further out that it would put too much strain on the dodgy shoulder.
