Pierini, Did he compete do You know? I know this is a little different but I watch a documentary about Ronnie Coleman. He said the same thing but I guess he made money. But to beat Your body to crap and being pretty much crippled doesn't make sense to me. I understand pushing a little. I cringe a little when I hear stuff like that. If I could exercise because I did that, I would go crazy. Yes, but at what level I don’t know. He was a known name I believe. He told me he OHP over 400 lbs. from the rack, maybe 440 lbs. range which I found hard to believe but had no reason to doubt him. It was pretty hard on the eyes watching him walk. Definitely busted up textbook and carrying too much body weight. Nice guy.

I'm not trying to say anything bad, that's just a different mentality. I'll admit, when I work I'm probably guilty of pushing myself hard and that's where some of the nagging injuries form. Sometimes when I have a hard day at work I'll be sore. But if I feel something is not feeling right now I make an adjustment.
I know some athletes and what not have to take that extra mile. I'm not trying to be a jerk but I don't look up to guys that are hurting because of what they use to do. I actually feel bad for them. Like MBS said,"At what cost". I know for myself I would like to be able to exercise in my later years because it's fun and feels good. I sometimes ask myself questions. It might be fun but should I be doing this? Is what I'm doing going to benefit me short and long term? I could go one but no one is interested in that.

As I gracefully age, God willing, I envision training as I currently am but with age-adjusted training loads and volumes with a probable slight uptick in recovery time. The program had got to match the personality. I won’t be golfing, playing bocci ball or doing yoga, that’s not me.

At 56 I still look forward to my workouts and I hope that never ends, but I no longer have any desire to do 90 minute sessions like 20-30 years ago.

I do them as I get good bang for my buck in a short period. Keeps my cardio good for paddle outs in the sea.
My go-to routine has me do 60. Basically I do 10, then set my timer going. I do jumping jacks or step ups until it hits two minutes. Then another ten burpees. Then back to the jumping jacks until it hits four minutes. Then ten more burpees. I do this every two mins, doing the final 10 when the timer hits the 10 min mark.
I never stop the timer, so the quicker you do the burpees the more active recovery time until the next set is due.
