This thread has got me rolling. I was always told that some old guys don't like to wash, . Just so some guys know they have deodorants that are natural and don't have stuff like aluminum. There's an old guy in his 70's around the corner from me. My youngest son when he was younger never wanted to take a shower. So we took a walk around the corner so he could ride his bike. That old man's wife was complaining to me about the old man not taking a bath. She said he smells and he ruined my chair with the oils from his head and shoulders. I couldn't stop laughing. When I walked away with my son I said, if You give me a hard time with taking a bath again You're moving in with that old man. Women like it when You shower so that's all that is important. Pierini be careful with that Vaseline, . Here is a tip for anyone that gets sap from a pine tree. Buy Yourself some of this and rub it over the sap: www.teclabsinc.com/products/poison-oak-ivy/tecnu Once You wash it with water it will come off easily.

The daily shower is essential for me. Like people who drink coffee to feel awake and lively, I need the shower - just feel better. In hot and humid weather I shower twice a day most times. Since my wife's breast cancer we both stopped using deodorant daily. She works from home and uses none at all. She has purchased a natural crystal thingy. I work from home most times and only use when I will meet with people or go to church. I sweat but don't smell even after being outside in hot weather doing heavy labor. The only noticeable bad smell is from a stress situation that seems to release something and strangely there is almost no sweat. Age has seemed to create cheesiness around the 'privates' (diet maybe?). Since COVID, I shaved my head and use no shampoo. Regular bar soap is it for me.
I see the body as coffee maker filter. We are mostly water and by the liquid taken in via food and drink pulls the food through the body mechanism and the excretion in the forms of urine, feces and sweat that come out are what make odor okay or horrible. The more processed the worse the offending smells.
The armpit shave has decreased sweat and odor.
I eat garlic and onions daily and like them as well.
I remember the olive oil for the hair via Atlas course and tried when I had dandruff in my late teens. Almost broke my neck falling in the tub from the oil, but it worked.
I worked with women who would eat Buffalo chicken wings for lunch and then apply the grease from their fingers to their elbows and heels of feet. Always a treat to go to the mailroom and see this spectacle while hesitantly picking up my faxes (1990's).
I get dry feet too and have found them cracking in parts around heel and edges from rubbing on the inside of shoes. Socks make the difference for me. Wool and polyester types keep the moisture in and make this worse than cotton which absorbs. I do nothing for them as of yet.

I think it depends on how active you are are, the climate your are in, the job you have and so on. I think a person can go a couple of days if they was their face, their pits and any other problem areas for people. Some of them are under beer belly, asses, packages and so on. I use Mr. P's witch hazel behind my ears and it works great when I need to feel extra fresh. I enjoyed your blog post. I know that many people as they get older lose their balance and other physical characteristics that can make taking an upright shower a dicey proposition, as well as getting into and out of a tub. The fear of falling makes them not do it as often
I remember the smells of yesteryear with many a fond memory. My Dad and Uncle's Aqua Velva, Vitalis, Brylcream, Old Spice (I use it and love it) and Hi Karate. That was a classic. Also they had access to some stuff that barbers enjoyed using which were great. I think witch hazel was one of those for sure.

Hai Karate! Every guy in my school at least tried it. I did, but didn't like it as well as English Leather or Brut. I hated the smell of Old Spice. Maybe my barber used Vitalis, but I don't remember. Aqua-Velva was for my dad, but two thumbs up for Brylcreem! I have some now in my bath cabinet drawer, m8, although I haven't used it much. "A little dab'll do ya!"

“people still really shudder at the idea of not washing or using deodorant every day,” she says. I don't even own any deodorant. I've not used any in maybe 20 years. It seems to me that some body odor may come from some of the foods people eat? I don't have herbs and spices on my food which probably explains why I don't have a problem with body odor. I find if I eat a lot of processed foods then I smell like them, and so does my piss

When I was a young poster here gossiping about sets and reps I went through a wee "experiment" where I didn't have a shower for something like a month. I was covered in a sort of greasy layer of sweat and when I finally did have a shower I found I had lost my sense of hot and cold, like a feral child.

Indeed I do! I tried a bottle of it. I think it burned my skin, but that may have been a different one. My go-to ended up being Brut until I found essential oils a couple years out of school. Then I went for Myrrh and Patchouli (yeah, I know, Patchouli sucks, but I didn't know that then.)

During this hyped up flu thing, I've gone without for at least a week a few times.
