Reeves was my goal, I could never get the pec line or legs like his with such a small waist.

Brothersteve it's better to be lean, strong, and healthy. I just talked about some of the benefits of the exercise itself. What You're talking about is still taking it to the extreme. To look lean, muscular, and be strong/healthy there is no need for any of that stuff. Again, overeating and overdoing protein are not necessary. Plenty of people have gotten muscular from eating all different styles of diet. Also, Jason and I even remember Bruce saying this, You're going to get stronger if You're doing progressive strength training no matter if it's light or heavy weights. You may not get stronger in a lift You're not currently doing or some other endeavor You haven't done. But You will be stronger than before.
I would not worry about being in someone else's league, be in Your own league. I just mentioned my thoughts for myself. Do what makes You feel good and have fun doing it. I do work my arms and work my rear delts. When we get older it's better to be lighter so keep up what You're doing.

I’ve never had bodybuilding aspirations. Just want to be reasonably lean, and strong enough to do the activities I enjoy.

Much appreciated Michael!
I always associate ultimate bodybuilding with the 70's Arnold era which is way too extreme for me - not attainable. This is why the pre-bodybuilding era of Physical Culture has always appealed to me most. It's all an individual thing. I wanted to try it out and received a certain amount of satisfaction doing it.
My goal now is to keep some mass and get leaner and in better cardio health for the long term.

Another thing, from the health side, was I had signed up at work for a mini physical they were giving free to employees and when they came in and took a finger prick for cholesterol it was 142. I heard the finger prick tests were not reliable, but had my own doctor appointment 2 weeks later for my annual and it showed 147 cholesterol. I was happy that clean eating and cardio seemed to help as previously I had always been around 180 cholesterol.

I’ve never had bodybuilding aspirations. Just want to be reasonably lean, and strong enough to do the activities I enjoy. I'll admit I wanted to look better mainly for girls, . I was skinny as hell when I was younger. Of course there was no internet at the time to get training advice, hence magazines. I just use exercises to fill in gaps because of work injuries. Some were given to me by therapists who know more than us. But yeah, I always wanted to improve myself in different ways, nothing wrong with that.
