"Plant-based burgers are big business.
After introducing the Impossible Whopper, a version of their iconic burger made with a 100-percent plant-based Impossible Burger patty, Burger King had their best quarter in four years. Due to the fact it comes topped with mayonnaise and that the patties are cooked on the same grill as Burger King's traditional beef burgers, the Impossible Whopper isn't vegan. However, there's no arguing its popularity. Jose Cil, CEO of Restaurant Brands, Burger King's parent company, recently called the Impossible Whopper one of the most successful rollouts in Burger King's 65-year history. Plant-based diets have never been hotter, nor more closely associated with good health. Most people assume that swapping out a beef burger for a burger made from plants is a no-brainer nutritional upgrade. But when it comes to nutrition facts, just how different are these plant-based fast food burgers from their traditional versions? The short answer: not very."
As for Burger King, it's Frankenfood for the win!

I've heard it's basically grass clippings mixed with coconut oil and seasonings for flavor.

I can understand eating something like this if you can't stand the thought of an animal having to die for you to have a meal, but the folks who eat these because they think it's healthier are totally deluding themselves.

Cookin' them on the same grill as the beef burgers gives it a meaty taste. Yeah, but then it's not vegan anymore.

Yeah, but then it's not vegan anymore. Who cares, vegan are just too bloody fussy a stupid idea by over compulsive disorder vegetarians. Most who eat them veggie burgers will have the mayo and cheese.
Vegetarians are somewhat normal but vegans are like extremist and there's no reason for it. Love it when someone decides I'm "somewhat normal" without even knowing me ;-)

I just saw on the evening news tonight that someone is suing Burger King exactly for that. Burger King has a disclaimer that a patron has to request that the burger be cooked on a clean grill for that to happen, but the plaintiff is suing on the basis that they have no right to advertise the impossible Whopper as vegan if they ever cook them that way.

I resemble that remark!

The vegan is correct. Contamination from an unwanted or intolerable ingredient is contamination. It ain't vegan with lard on it. I'm far from vegan, but I hope he kicks their ass for being so nutritionally stupid. This also draws attention to the fact that BK lacks integrity with regard to honesty in advertising or, at the least, points out that they don't understand what they're doing.. They are just creating a marketing perception to sell product.
