It's a grip exerciser. It works by centrifugal force. The faster you can get it spinning, the harder you have to hold on to it. The movement needed to keep it spinning and to get it to spin faster and faster, exercises the muscles of your forarms. It is actually an ingenius and very effective exerciser. There is a website dedicated to forearm enthusiasts (That was years ago and I'd have no idea where to find it now) That gizmo was their main device - that and Captains of Crush. I took one of those hoo-hoos and made this device for developing pinch strength: The ball is inset into plastic resin within the mold. Oh ok Bruce. Did You use it without the pinch grip? I think I seen this thing before. Wasn't Dennis Rogers promoting this in the past? I personally don't like the grippers because they mess with my right wrist and aggraviates the inside of my elbows. This gyro ball doesn't give You that gripper feel does it? By the way, no I don't know what it's like to be old enough to be my grandfather. You're around the age my father would have been.

That's one way to use it, but for me I've found that I get the most effect (and fantastic pump) when I get it up to a reasonable speed and then go for time...

Michael, the 'gyro' is nothing like the grippers, as a matter of fact, aside from it's use as a strength training tool, it's used in the medical field to rehab injuries...

I had a nasty case of golfers elbow years ago, suffered with it for quite some time. It would feel healed after giving it rest, but would just start right back up again once I started exercising...This was back in the days before I knew about 'pre-hab' and re-hab tools like Indian clubs and gyro balls. I did some research on the subject and gave 'cissus' a try... it worked!

This is in the "Grip I" section of Grunt & Shen's Workshop. There is a lot of info on this forum, other than the forum itself. Happy Birthday, Bruce!

Happy Birthday Shen. I have Heartfelt Hope that your Horrendous Hernia Healing KSHD sets you up for the Happy Holiday Hoedown in the steamy metropolis of Pratt's 30ft square town center, illuminated by at least three light bulbs tonight.
I heard on the Pratt gropevine that the Pratt County Bluegrass Twangers are diverting from their Grand Tour of the outlying farms to make an appearance, with a special performance of their latest hit "You Will Never Grow Old" in your honour.

Happy burpday, Brucie. It's great to see you're still not taking the dirt bath.
