"The vegan movement is on the rise. But so is the “resistance”. While many fast food chains are beginning to experiment with plant-based “burgers” and meat substitutes, one fast food chain decided to do just the opposite – and create a meat based vegetable substitute."

Eating plant based food is a good idea but probably not plant based heavily processed products like from Beyond Meat

I'm vegetarian and I don't understand the need for fake meat. If you want to enjoy the taste of meat, eat some. Simples! If you are like me and don't like the taste of meat, there are plenty of plants to fill you up. When I am out to dinner with friends, I'm not offended if somebody at the table eats a steak, while I'm enjoying whatever I have to eat.

I agree Trog and Gruntbrain. That fake meat stuff is just to make money. With the internet, You can find much healthier recipes that aren't processed for a vegan or vegetarian. , why would anyone go to Kentucky fried chicken and buy fake chicken tenders or Burger King to buy a vegetarian burger? I wouldn't trust those places.

It's still highly processed factory fake food, no matter if it's meat or vegetables, at fast "food" places and most restaurants. As far as Vegan vs Carnivore or whatever food culture one identifies with, if any, is concerned, eat what works for you. I've noticed that people who act like I'm odd or abnormal to eat what I do are also people who eat a lot of factory processed Frankenfood shit.

I'm vegetarian and I don't understand the need for fake meat. .... There isn't any need for it. I think most people will think the same and see Arby's new "Megetables" as the novelty "food" it is. Likely just a move to grab some media attention. I didn't know there are vegetarians who are vegetarians because they don't like the taste of meat. I thought they ate that way for health reasons. I wonder if vegetus has the same reason for avoiding animal protein? Coincidently, I'm not offended if somebody at the table eats vegetables, while I'm enjoying my steak. Ain't it great that we can all get along?

Stick to your "dietary guns" when eating with others especially if you have health issues .Hit bypass key if there are no suitable choices; missing a meal ain't gonna kill you.

Don't turn diet into a religion. Just eat what feels good and helps preserve health. Probably, no one approach to eating is best for everyone.
Having said that, we as the human species need to find a way of producing food that doesn't kill our planet. For those of us who eat animal flesh, perhaps we will need to change the amounts we eat or eat different sources of animal protein, such as locusts or other insects. Whatever we do, we need to remember we want to have a world we can pass onto our grandchildren and their grandchildren, and if we don't heed that, we may be among the last humans to ever exist.

He's right ! ^ I've never been a fan of overcomplicating something so basic like diet and turning it into something like a cult or a religion. Insects are the future of foods. If we look at the facts, they are simply superior to beef. Advantages:- Crickets require about 12 times less food than beef for the same edible weight gain.
In fact, 2.4kg of fodder (food given to cattle) are necessary to produce 100g of beef, against 200g of food for crickets.
- The estimated amount of water needed to produce 100g of beef is about 2200L.
According to estimations, the amount of water needed for crickets would be around 2000 times less.
- The production of a 100g beef steak induces 750g greenhouse gases emission (CO2 equivalent).
The emissions related to the production of the same amount of crickets are estimated 100 times lesser.
- Crickets have a protein content of about two to three times higher than beef.
100g of chopped steak brings only about of 20g of protein against 60g for a cricket steak of the same weight.
- Crickets, just like beef, are an excellent source of complete protein.
- Given their higher protein content, crickets provide more essential amino acids than beef on the same weight basis.
- Unlike beef, crickets provide us with dietary fibers, known for their beneficial effects on intestinal transit.
6g per 100g of insect (Health Canada recommends a daily intake of 25 g for an individual aged from 18 to 50 years).
- Crickets offer an ideal ratio of about 3: 1 (omega 6: omega 3) and in greater quantity than beef.
- Crickets also contain more potassium than beef
Disadvantages:
- Insects industry is still in its early stage, the production is not yet automated and as efficient as conventional farming.
For now, the cricket is more expensive than beef linknaakbar.com/blogs/articles/why-you-should-eat-insect-cricket-versus-beef
