Today is the first day summer and I begin chasing various new fitness, health and wellness goals I’ve established with an achievement date by the first day of fall. My cyberspace younger fitness brother from a different mother is doing the same and we’ll be coaching and mentoring each other marching towards achievement. They are specific and measurable because anything else is middle-aged man chatter and white smoke. What about you? pierini-fitness.blogspot.com/2019/06/middle-aged-man-chatter-and-white-smoke.html?m=1

My current body weight fluctuates between 187-192
Ive set a goal to lean out, and by September 1st, be in the 177-182 lbs range.
Ive made a few modifications in my diet/ lifestyle to help me reach this goal, and once achieved, to remain there. So 10 lbs of lard in 10 weeks to lose.

Good for You MBS. With a little bit of discipline, You got this.
Pierini congratulation on the Goals You completed. I like hearing that middle age and older guys are not giving up.

MBS, 1 lb. a week is very achievable, that’s an average daily calorie deficit of 500 calories, very do-able.
I used the MyFitnessPal app to guide me in my journey and I highly recommend it to those who are dead serious. Even though I’m comfortably within my target ideal weight range of 172-177 lb., I still use it each day as if I was a fat man trying to lose weight to impress the petite hottie at work. Let me know if you need any pearls of wisdom.
I’ll share my goals next week, they’ve been etched in stone and today is day one chasing them.
In a private conversation, Gruntbrain shared one additional goal with me. He wants to quit smelling like his grandfather’s closet. I know he can do it!

Cracked me up "..middle-aged man chatter and white smoke." "In a private conversation, Gruntbrain shared one additional goal with me. He wants to quit smelling like his grandfather’s closet. I know he can do it!"
My year-round goal is to wake up in the morning and achieve uprighteousness on my feet, remaining at 82-83 kgs as the crow flies, and ready to engage in strenuous physical activity maintaining control over my 4 and 8 year-old grandsons before and during driving them to kindergarten and school. It's a solid daily workout for five days a week, and I've built up a great deal of tolerance and will-power over the years. The torn clothing and kicks to the shins present solid evidence of ongoing extreme violence and aggression.
A finely-honed reserve of nerve force is of course required for this rigorous regimen, and an additional goal is to maintain a good showing in this regular and rather uneven contest until either they outgrow it, or I outgrow this Earthly existence.

macky, grandfather-hood is an honorable profession and spending time with grandchildren is the true fountain of youth, the elixir that Ponce de Leon failed to discover over 500 years ago. Enjoy as I am with my four very young grandsons.

In order to blowtorch my fat, I'm going to hack Pierini's bank account so I can afford to buy real kettlebells( unlike my Rube Goldberg DIY versions)
Meanwhile, like macky, I intend to remain VERTICAL 'til breath do me parts.

I’ve been using a liberal dose of heavy cream in my two morning cups of java, and by switching to black, eliminate about 300 calories.
The added benefit of the black coffee is I’ll be doing some cardio in a relatively fasted state, and should be able to burn more fatty acids as fuel.
The other 200 calorie reduction should come easily, as long as I stay focused on my goal, and chart my progress to stay on point.

MBS, I generally train fasted and also practice intermittent fasting, probably better described as time-restricted eating. I firmly believe both have contributed to my current success.
The naysayers will say neither makes a difference and that it all boils down to CICO - calories in and calories out. CICO management matters most so I agree with the naysayers. But, based on my experience, I believe fasted training adds a little umpf to results. Your mileage may vary.
Too bad Parker isn’t around because he could give us the correct and official answer to this riddle.

Enjoy as I am with my four very young grandsons. I'm afraid I'm not up to your level of fitness pierini. Two grandsons at match weight are enough for me, thank you.
As for my weight at 180-183lbs, where I come from that is about a 13 year-old Pacific Island school girl. When they and their brothers (hopefully from the same mother) are older, the average bathroom scale goes around about one and a half times when they stand on it.
Many families here buy 7-seaters or vans so the parents can actually get into the vehicle via the side door. Certain individuals have been advised not to stand talking in the doors of the supermarket lest they are forced to turn the emergency lighting on.
A lady I dropped off at her home from a gym class a few years back was 5'7" and had joyfully lost weight down to just under 300lbs. Her sister in the back seat was 6ft and in the same proportions so God knows how much she weighed.
When they got into the car I swear I heard a groan coming from under the bonnet.....
I have no goals to reach re any target weight. As long as I stay the same, I'm happy.

My gf thinks I’m crazy. She said your in great shape, and loves me as I am. I’m 6’2”, 190 lbs with a 32 waist, but I know I’m a little soft. I’m doing this for me.

I've got about 7 pounds to lose to get to my lean-looking weight.
I've been hit with a totally unexpected health problem since switching offices. I've been asthma free for over 25 years, but since we merged with a new law firm something in the new office is triggering it. I suspect it is their pet dog, but I await test results. The asthma goes each weekend and returns in the office.
So my main goal is just to be asthma free again, as having problems with something as important as breathing really focuesses the mind on what is important.
