Made these today. I laminated rubber jar remover material around the 2 x 4's and drilled 1" x 1" holes into the ends of each, screwed in 3/4" pipes, slipped 5 lb. plates over the pipes, and hold them in place with pipe end caps. With these I can pinch the blocks and do overhand wrist curls, underhand wrist curls with my hands down at my sides, and rotate in/rotate out leverage exercises. Works great!

How do they compare to just using a weight plate for the same exercises?

I like to use two 10 lb Olympic plates smooth side out. But these look pretty cool, Thanks for sharing this.

Inspector Bruce Gadget, fiddling with industrial parts is why we have The Hook today. He's the Rube Goldberg of the Physical Fitness World, mikey says, fondly.
Yeah, Michela, it's nice when I can just pick up something I already have and use it, but I do enjoy fiddling with my parts too.

How do they compare to just using a weight plate for the same exercises? The weight on my pinch blocks is not evenly distributed, hence, leverage. Moreover, the rubber laminated blocks are a joy to pinch.....but not as much as someone I know's butt.

Even a mechanically declined being like me can create semi-useful exercise gizmos . Visits to hardware stores inspire such easily configured items.

Many of the designs in Grunt and Shen's Workshop are easily built( ie, one need not be mechanically inclined ). Meanwhile, let the fun gizmo experiments begin.
