This seems like a method that could really supercharge a person's health and strength.
I am interested in the breathing method more than the cold showers and such.
I have just started using it. Has anyone been doing this?

I just now came in from being outside for about 1.5hr, in the sun reflecting off the snow, @ 28*F, doing twisting, swinging arm, rag doll exercises.
Once in a while, a gust of wind would blast through and chill me, but it was mostly very comfortable without a shirt or foot protection.
Felt nice.

I think it's a good idea for Wim Hof to breathe.

I think it's a good idea for Wim Hof to breathe. Yes, and it is probably an even better idea for people to follow Wim's model in how to do it. Pretty compelling stuff and he is not afraid to let scientists and doctors poke and prod to see if he is actually doing the things he claims.

It seems like a lot of the old-time strongmen had special breathing techniques and I am pretty sure Charles Atlas talked of the benefits of cold exposure.

Just some kind of yogic breathing exercises (pranayma). According some sources similar techniques were used on Tibet for body's energy sublimation.

And judging by what he is doing as far as posture and breathing it is really simple, which is kind of a revelation, and, at least for me, a no-brainer to try out, which I have been doing.

For about the last 4 months I've been blasting myself with cold water at the end of my morning shower, and seeing how long I can stand under it while maintaining a steady 4 seconds in, 6 seconds out breathing pattern (i.e not gasping for breath at the shock of the cold and not breathing too heavily or deeply). Really wakes me up in the morning and makes me feel great and ready for my morning workout. (This exercise was initially to prep me for the Christmas day swim that goes on down here, but I've kept doing it as I feel it benefits me.)
I did try the wim hof breathing method but I didn't like how it made me feel.
I found this you tube clip
and have since been following Dr Watkins breathing recommendation as often as I can. I have a polar H7 heart rate strap and an HRV app and it's this 4 in, 6 out gentle breathing, that creates the most coherent heart pattern for me (I've tried lots of other rhythms / styles) and makes me feel the best.
I follow a blogger who has been experimenting with the wim hof method and he feels that it's the cold exposure that benefits him more than the wim hof breathing.
Just my (and his) tuppence worth though :-)

I downloaded the 10 week course last night and gave it a very first attempt. Then I woke up in the middle of night with trapped wind. I'll give it another go but if I can't learn to stop being a moron who swallows air when he holds his breath then this isn't going to work for me.
