Here in the northwest part of the USA, fresh wild salmon is available nearly all year, and it's a lot cheaper than it is in other parts of the country. We consider other forms of salmon to be a lower form of life. However, I do confess to having canned sardines one or two times a week, getting sardine tins in bulk at the local Costco here in Tacoma, Washington (State). For breakfast every morning I have smoked salmon on 1/2 slice of toast with two eggs on top. Love it! And then I have a few apple slices and 1/2 banana on the side (I eat the other half banana before working out). I developed a taste for smoked salmon during all those years I lived in New York - lox on bagels with cream cheese.... Oy Vey!

I'd be happy as a sardine in a can as long as I'd have my wo-man

^^^^i need to try the Wild planet brand. King Oscar is excellent. I get the Trader Joe’s water packed with edible bones n skin, drain, and add my own extra virgin olive oil to it. $1.49 a tin.

Inspired, I stocked up on sardines the other day. I just finished the most delicious spinach salad with sardines, pinto beans, olives, cherry tomatoes, and a hard boiled egg. Yummy!
When I was young and single and weighed half as much as a popcorn fart, my sole dinner would often be a can of sardines in mustard sauce. Sometimes I'd mix sardines in Louisiana hot sauce in with brown rice.

I find sardines to be very satiating. Maybe because they are so nutrient dense on key essential fats. One can, about 20 grams of protein, with spicy mustard, and my hunger disappears for hours.

Yes, very satiating. That's probably why I have tuna on my salads more often than sardines. But, considering the yumminess and nutrient value, I've decided to have sardines a couple of times a week.

Is there a certain brand that you guys like? Brunswick sardines have the best tomato sauce but I think they're actually herring, usually get 4 in a can, 5 if your lucky. Because they're not the tiny ones I remove the bones, mash with a fork add all the sauce, then mash 1\2 or whole avocado and blend, great on toast.
