What is your favorite exercise and why?
I've been going to Hot Yoga every single day, I really like to get into a full lotus and do the peacock pose. Why? impress the girls M8! actually it's quite satisfying.

2 handed kettlebell swings... like this except I use 2 16Kg's:
and ab wheel roll outs. These 2 are my current favorites that I keep going back to until something shiny catches my eye.

It's ridiculous. Don't bother with it. Anyone who watches this, and copies this guy, is likely to fuck himself up. His swings look awkward, too high and biomechanically inefficient, plus it's completely unnecessary. Just a circus stunt that may hurt.
machine head seems to like it though and I'm all about doing what one enjoys. I do two hands on one weight, very low swings and enjoy it, but no way would I swing two, that high and outboard.

If I did that I'd be out of work. That's a lot of force on your back. Swings shouldn't hurt your back. Here's a decent video on form with a little bit of humor.

The video was just to show what I was talking about, not to explain proper form.

I don't have a favorite exercise now, although if pressed I might say the single leg squat. I could write a whole book on that exercise, and no, I don't call them "pistols" since I've been doing them since before Pavel was just an itch in his daddy's pants. Harry Good's "Keynote to Great Strength" (1940) features this exercise and it's probably been around lots longer than that.
When I was a barbell guy, my favorite exercise was the straddle lift, an old timer that few if any people do anymore. I think I had ideal leverage for this lift and it always felt great for me although I know it has been deemed unsafe by some. I found that the straddle lift was a cross between a deadlift and a squat, working the whole leg/hip/lumbar structure, with the added bonus that the wide grip used built the entire trapezius, from top to bottom. It can be done off the floor, standing on blocks for a longer movement, and as a heavy partial in the power rack and anyway you do them it is of enomous benefit. I may go back to weights someday and if I do I will start with this old beauty.

I might say the single leg squat. Was one of my faves as well, I need to work on it nowadays due to neglecting it and getting older, a Yoga version is to hold the foot and one girl I knew could sit flat on the ground then get back up with what looked like no effort.

Hello thinman-- Thanks for the vid. I go even lower than that, at rock bottom I can rock backwards a little so that the lower leg is vertical, then I push up from there. I was remembering that I also have a kung fu book published in China in the 1930's that shows the single leg squat, they say it is great for giving you stronger kicks, and I agree. Back in the mid 1980's Don "The Ripper" Ross had a great article in Muscular Development titled "Renewed Gains with the Dumbbell Blast", all about dumbbell training including single leg squats with one dumbbell--he said that this was a favorite exercise of Chuck Sipes but that few people did them any more, and I remember his exact words, "because they are so grueling--but do they ever give results!" Amen.

I've got three that are favorites.
One-hand deadlift with a non-rotating handle attached to a loading pin.
10 to 2s with a macebell. I'LL often add a squat in between reps.
Overhead downward pull with a chest expander and combined with a bodyweight squat.

Maybe ab wheel rollouts or rope climbing just because they are fun.
My least favorite is shoveling wet slushy snow after this morning.
