That's good to hear Stormshadow. Sounds like You've had a good lifelong plan. I saw the three head thing mentioned in the book by John Kirsch. Also, Texas showed me this article a couple of years ago: www.pullupbar.com/blog/bullet-proof-shoulders/ That guy mentioned not pressing also. I think there should always be some kind of overhead press. I admit I stay away from front raises being that if You do bench press or push-ups You can create an imbalance. I also do my pushups slower with tension. Sometimes I like to one arm bench a KB from the ground, much safer for the shoulder.

I got to see Anthony Clark at his gym one time. A customer of mine in Houston did a lot of work with the local Boys & Girls Clubs and did other programs for disadvantaged kids. I can't remember how he got hooked up with Clark, but, he said AC was a regular speaker and a very very good person. So, when I was in Houston, this VP said if I made a donation to their charity he'd take me to meet Clark at his gym. Nice guy, clearly out of my league by a factor of a zillion. I did see these guys doing reverse benches at Gold's at one time, !

Texas putting Your hands backwards on the floor and doing pushups has to kill Your wrist long term. I've tried it, it works the biceps pretty good but my wrist felt weird. Just my opinion.

Michael, I agree sir, 100%. Wondering what the Shadow was suggesting -- maybe an idea to prevent possible issues? Have you seen some of the gymnastics videos where several of the guys are doing full body planks -- head to toe in the air, parallel to the floor -- and their hands are in a reverse position, but, positioned slightly to the rear? (These guys are pretty jacked in the upper body and I'd imagine their strength = their appearance in this case.)

Yes Stormshawdow may have an idea, plenty of experience. I just messed around with it now, a couple of reps. The only way I didn't have discomfort was with my fingers pointed at a forty-five degree angle. Not trying to copy Bruv but go read what he said about gymnasts, I agree with him. If You think about it their wrists are always wrapped. There was a guy, I think on Dragondoor, that was a gymnast. He talk about all the injuries he had. Yeah, they are jacked but at what cost. But I'm sure there are a few that may get away with that stuff.

His post a day or two ago on push ups, for example, is a definite keeper. But you're correct on gymnasts and injuries...I was surprised the first time I came across this information during a random search on the web. Was it you or Todd that re-posted the article by Doug Brignole on AMM on his exercise selections to avoid injuries and why he stopped push ups, for example? IMHO, that was also very much worth the read.

Yes the handles are pushup handles that allow you to grab onto them as a fist. The simple ones. They don't have to rotate. If you place your hands flat on the floor way too much wrist strain and flexion.

I have been doing the pullup hangs and the isometric doorway press since this post to see if it would help my right shoulder. By accident I found something that can temporarily take away my shoulder pain. Sitting in a chair, interlock your fingers and grab the shin below the knee on the same side as the shoulder that hurts and pull the shoulder out of socket slightly. Once the shoulder is pulled out do some shrugs.
I am not sure what is different than the hangs, but for my problem this takes away the pain right away. I have not done it long enough to know if the fix is temporary or if it will help permanently.
I popped something in my shoulder last spring lifting a dumbbell with my palm down and my arm straight. When my arm got up around my ear something popped in my shoulder.

Have You been to some kind of doctor? They know better than anyone else. What works for someone else doesn't always mean it will work for You. If You have something like that it's way better to get it checked out.

If You have something like that it's way better to get it checked out. bob44 says this works for him: If pain is relieved or avoided by doing something, keep doing it. I've injured myself a number of times doing stupid shit like lifting something wrong or doing a ballistic movement with a weight that was too heavy. I didn't check any of it out with a doctor. Sometimes it took my body several months to fix it, but eventually it did. Once I discovered and applied rehabilitative isometrics by accident or (usually) by research, it helped to facilitate the healing. Tendon/muscle Pain is there to tell us to stop doing something. If we stop and avoid re-injury, it heals up with time, assuming decent nutrition. My brain would tell me, "Maybe you should see a doctor", but my body would say, "Just shut up and let me handle it. Remember? It won't be as bad in a month or so". Yeah, I talk to myself. So what? I like to soak in hot salt baths for things like this also.

I probably should go, but this is not a priority now. I have a vertigo problem for the past 15 months that I am is taking priority. Once I get the vertigo stuff resolved, then I will go for the shoulder problem. I just wanted to share in case this helped anyone else.
